B-24 Cockpit - KABAYO - 31.03.2009
Now that Ranwers has up grade the B-17's Cockpit which are great! Is any one going to upgrade the B-24 cockpit and I hope if some one does they get it right. The B-24 cockpit controls are didferent
then the B-17's. If any one is going to redo the B-24, let me know I send you a picture of the cockpit.
Oh one more thing, I notice that you can not get into the B-17G tail gunner position, actually there is no tail gunner position at all, is that going to be fix?

i think this is a great request. the new B-17 cockpits added so much to the experience, i think it would be great to have a b-24 cockpit if someone with knowledge had time to take the task. Even though i know that the modders are very busy with other projects. as Mr Ranwers was the wizard to do the B-17 makeover, would he be interested in this?
If some generous person would take this up, i would help in any way i could with reference material, morale support, etc 8)

Kabayo, you should reinstall your b-17 mod, because there is definitely a working rear gunner in there

Here are some images of the interior of the aircraft, not much changes from the current b-25 cockpit being used
The one above is a virtual cockpit
I also have a cockpit plan (medium quality im afraid) with all the instruments labelled which i could e-mail to anyone interested
. I have the pilots manual for the b-24 in pdf form which could also help

Here's another option. A search on Flickr or Picasa for "B-24 cockpit"

If you want bigger images, click on "all sizes" above the image.
Or find them with google image search and you'll find that there's a good one on Wiki:

The B-24 was an awsome plane, it could carry more bombs than any other bomber and it was massed produced. It was a very tough plane to fly, you had to fight with the wheel to keep it stable, thats why most of the B-24 pilots had more muscle on theyre left arms, it was also a dangerous plane because it usually catch fire when it was under attack becuase its fuel tanks werent sealed.
However, it deserves a Cockpit!
The problem is most of the modders here have pleny of work and short periods of time to work on thoose mods.
Still it would be AWSOME if someone volunteered to do it.
Kindest Regards!

the more that i look at the b-25 cockpit, i realise that the major layout is quite similar to the b-24. The control wheels are different, and of course there is different instrument placement. and of course the windows are different. Agreed loht773 that is true, the guys who can create/modify cockpits are very busy with all the new aircraft coming out at the moment, but it would be great to fly with an auhentic cockpit for this beauty
