Can't seem to install skin packs, Help please . - ceege1 - 03.04.2009

I'm having trouble installing the skin packs that go along with campaigns and missions that I've downloaded. The campaigns go in fine usually but I can't work out how to get the skin packs working as well, all the aircraft just have default skins when I fly the missions.
Is there some sort of trick I am missing, I can install skins manually , no problem there. But when it comes to skin packs I am lost I've tried everything I can think of. I am on vista and not XP, is that it maybe???

Any help please, manual installs suck and some of these skin packs are huge !

Regards,
Ceege1

Problematic as it is to do a manual install that's the only way I do it so that I'm sure they are where they're suppose to be, sorry, no help Wink

I think you had better stick to manually installing new skins or skin packs. It doesn't really suck all that much, not when compared to the frustration you're going to have every time you try to load a mission and the skins aren't how you expected them to be.

Better to take your time and install (or rather copy) the skins manually. It just takes a few seconds to install a directory of new skins anyway. And that way you are sure they will be placed in the correct folder.

If the author put them in the zip folder from their Paintschemes folder and checked "Use full filepaths" you should see to the far right (expand the Winzip window sideways) that info, i.e.
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\PaintSchemes\Skins\Bf-109E-4 for example.
If you can't see that they uploaded them either without "full filepaths" checked or from some other place, in which case a manual install (drag-n-drop or Copy/Paste) is the only solution.
