MOD help - darcsyde - 09.04.2009

Greetings all....

First of all, GREAT mods! This website has renewed my interest in IL2 and judging by the amount of mods available here, I think I'll be playing quite a bit from now on....

Now to my question. I have installed UI 1.1 and I am having a few issues.

1. In one of the readme files, there is mention of an EAX switch batch file. I cannot locate this file in my installation folder. I was going to try using this file because I am having sound issues when my extensions switch is enabled under the audio control panel in game. Where can I find/dl this file?

2. I am trying to enable the IAS/TAS display on my speedbar through the Bomb Bay Doors mod(v. 2 beta 3 i believe). It mentions that I must have the hotkeys mod. I don't have this mod listed in my mods folder nor can I find any mention of a separate download. Any ideas?

3. Also when attempting to enable the IAS TAS mod, even after adding the line to my conf file my speedbar still doesn't display IAS. I have added the necessary line in my conf folder which is supposed to activate this, but nothing is happening....

4. And just a general concern of mine....is there some thread that could take me through step-by-step installation instructions for UI?

Hello Mate. I'll see if I cant help you with these problems.

1. with my installation of the UI1.1 I have an EAX_ON.bat and EAX_OFF.bat in the main il2 directory.

2. Here is my entries in the conf.ini for true airspeed.

[Mods]
SpeedbarUnits=6
SpeedbarSpdKMH=1
SpeedbarSpdMPH=1
SpeedbarAltMeters=1
SpeedbarAltFeet=1
HUDGauges=2
SpeedbarTAS=1

as long as you have the bomb bay doors mod this should work. When displaying IAS it won't always display the letters 'IAS' - this is because it is essentially displaying what your dials do, which is indicated air speed. there is a key assignment for 'toggle speedbar' which will switch through IAS, TAS, KMH, MPH etc.

The UI1.1 is fairly simple to install...

If this is a fresh installation of Il2 (patched to 4.08 ) then you just need to download the UI, put all the parts into 1 folder and run part 1 - directing the installer to your main Il2 directory, it will install all parts for you. if you already have modded your il2, all you need to do is put a - in front of your MODS and files folders in the main directory and then install the UI, this is how I did it and it works fine. The UI thread has more in-depth instructions for you.

Hope this is of some help.

Thank you for the quick reply.

However, I also have IL2 '46 with UI 1.1 and I do not have the EAX switches in my main directory. Perhaps an incorrect install? This is why I think I may have installed the mods incorrectly.

I'll try the speedbar mod later(at work atm).

That is strange, that you don't have those files... I can send them to you if you PM me your email address. It might be worth searching the directory for them just in case they are in other folders for some reason.

Ok....tried the TAS mod with the lines above and still nothing. I get KmH, KIAS, and MPH only.

I placed the lines at the end of my conf.ini file. I have checked and I do have the bomb bay doors mod.

Do you also have the HUDConfig mod installed? You need that in addition to the BombBayDoors mod.
