1:7 RC FW190D9 - DannyMNL - 10.04.2009

Hi guys, first post here Smile

wanted to show some pics of my RC focke-wulf 190 D9. It's painted in the "Schwarze 1"scheme as flown by Hans Dortenmann. I built it from a Top-Flite kit.

These pictures are a few months old, they still show the old standard engine cowl ( it's now replaced with a more scale one), 90 degree retracts instead of 74 degrees, and the bottom of the wing is still open. also the colorscheme needs some more mottling.... all of this has been modified now.

will post more recent ones soon.

enjoy!

If you put a 1 piston engine in that plane i'm going to punch you. :twisted:
Get a proper radial engine, i know they exist, just a "little" expensive. :mrgreen:

EDIT: correction put a V-12 engine in it, i've seen a few on Youtube.

Hmm, Prop looks very underscale.

Well this is what you need. FW190 A8 with a Moki 5cyl Radial Engine.

Wow, it's bloody HUGE!!! What's the wingspan? 3 meters?

- DannyMNL - 10.04.2009

@redchico

phew, I'm lucky portugal isn't close to the netherlands... :wink: I've put in a 15cc 2-stroke engine, any bigger and it wouldn't have fitted inside the cowl...

@chris89

yup, but it's the closest I could find... static scale props aren't produced in 1/7th scale, and this is a running prop, which has to be somewhat downsized to accomodate the engine...

@ JAMF

I'd wish! it's not that big actually, just 1 meter 57. looks bigger because of the snow...

Better not to crash it

- bugsbg - 11.04.2009

Cool! Good model. Is this Elvis Presly inside Smile (Jusk kiding)

- DannyMNL - 11.04.2009

crashed my scale trainer ( at6 texan) last week due to radio interference... when a RC receiver loses the transmitter's signal it'll start to give random commands.... this sadly meant that the plane rolled upside down and pulled up on the elevator.... went nose first in the ground, and the aluminium engine cowl actually made a loud "thump"sound as it plowed into the field... damage is not too bad, a little sheeting damage on the nose and some damage on the wing...

a bit demotivating though, don't want this to happen to the Dora, spent nearly 2.5 years on it... Sad

Damn, now I notice the elvis presley hair too... Tongue

- chris89 - 11.04.2009

Ah Fair play then.

Only had experience with Gliders, as my brother Flies RC & can fly real gliders thanks to the Air Training Corp (Youth Branch type thing of RAF)

WoW look at the size of that dora Confusedhock: Outstanding work.

- DannyMNL - 13.04.2009

The smallest radial engines that I know of are 60cc, and my plane's maximum allowed engine is actually a 12cc, and I've put on a 15cc... a radial engine would have been impossible to fix :wink:

actually made some more pictures tody, plane's still not finished but looking better.
the tail still isn't finished yet ( the black/white marking has to be repainted) so it still has no weathering. some of the weathering on the nose is too heavy, will try and get it right.

enjoy:

Would the Wankel engine from Graupner-O.S. work? Wink

Eh? The type of engine is w-a-n-k-e-l, not the other word, stupid curse-blocking software. Tongue :roll:

- DannyMNL - 13.04.2009

I believe that engine is only 4.5 cc, not even near enough power... It does seem to work well on the Top-Flit DC-3/C47 though, but the engines are quite expensive and leak oil everywhere. I know someone on another forum who built the dakota and wanted to fit these engines. he tried them on a different model and decided not to use them bacuase the entire plane got covered in oil....

Awesome model, the gears look really weak, are they?
