Hog. It's great Fun......you should try it too. You will get more respect for those il2 & other aerobatic teams.....those pilots are just amazing, I am far away from that pilot skills.

Oh by the way the planes we borrowed from a Brazilian aerobatic team........Hog's did that!

Would you mind posting your joystick settings? Just wondering how tight or loose they are to do this type of flying. Don't mean to go so OT but would like to know.

hey, nice work with a bit more practice you'll get much better
. I started off with hawk about 3 yrs ago, back then it was keyboard formation flying for me as I refused to buy a good one let alone fly with one lol. Since nearly half a yr ago I bought an X-52 and now I fly on joystick for formations

A little advice for the leader, less manouvers after each other but rather go in for a run at the runway and do a loop. Finish the loop and go away, do a turn at around 40 degrees or so slowly back for another manouver over the runway. It will be easier for a pilot to follow and get used to flying in the wing. I'm not sure how you fly wing but most people look sideways from cockpit. Otherwise gd!

Thanks for your advice F22-Raptor-2006, I try to fly the wing using the bolts in my canopy as reference for the position of my wingleader.
I noticed, if I concentrate to hard, I lose the formation......I just need more practice.
By the way is it handy if the lead plane has more fuel then his wing planes? :roll:
My fuel load was 75%......I didnt know how much fuel my leader had.

in the Blue Eagles we flew 50% Fuel with no ammo.
More weight = less speed. There for you need more pull in manouvers to achieve the best speed for on top of a loop. Best speed to be on top of a loop in a P51 is 180 KM/H Its nice and above the stall speed with the need to pull alot.

Hello and thank you all for the replies and advice.
About me: after being a pure offliner with different older sims like wb2 and Falcon4
(not very frequently) i own this sim now since january. It started with my interest
in aerobatics when i met fred on a server and he formed on my wing several times.
As shown in one of his videos we started to try hangar flying and stuff - just having fun.
I also see myself as a beginner and so fred and i started to have some practice.
Thank you Raptor for your advice. Unfortunately the video gives the impression that
there are many manoeuvres after each other because of the cutting. The last part was
really somewhat "wild"- we were trying around. In most cases when i take the lead i
try to keep a constant speed, angle and altitude - since we can use teamspeak it`s
much easier to fly together. We also change roles so that i can learn how to hold formation.
Currently i just have a 4-button joystick and keyboard as controllers, but i am looking
forward to add throttle and pedals soon. I am also working on a freetrack system.
In reply to Strider`s question: My Joystick is a CH Flightstick Pro (pretty old but working)
and i don`t have any custom settings or software used. Here my settings from the il2-conf:

Maybe you guys should come on aerobatic servers like "Aerobats" on HL. I don't use HL as much as I used to cos it screws up my pc but sometimes i'm on it. The Server does have a password but if you guys are interested i'll pm you the pass etc...
Just remembering in the back of my head.... in the video on your take off you will notice number 2 falling considerably behind and also number 1 powering up before number 2. I assume you said you were using TeamSpeak but remember once you've said the command to count 1, 2 because that is when they will hear it
It's weird but you'll get used to it.
P.S. What main power were you using in your flight?

Thanks Hawk for the screenshots for the best wing position, I will try to do that.....but it will take sometime to preform this position.....lots of training is needed
