Early Cold War Soviet Piston-Engined Fighters - VonBarb. - 11.04.2009
Hi
I've been thinking, with the Sea Fury, late Spits, fantasywaffe German prop fighters and 50's USN/USMC prop attack planes (Bearcat/Skyraider) currently at various stages of development, it would be nice to have Soviet late prop fighters to picth them against.
I'm thinking of course of the La-9 and La-11. I'm no modeller and I've only done very superficial research, but it looks like at least the La-9 could be relatively easily 'frankened' using the La-7 as a base. The La-11 would require some new meshes though.
Modellers/guys who know how, what do you think ? Maybe Dr. Ranwerstein can use some of his Frankenmagic to put a basic version of these planes together ?
edit : OK, actually it looks like the La-7 and La-9 share fewer features than I originally thought... Here's basc 3 view drawings of both plane, same source same scale, just to give you an idea :
La-7 :
La-9 :
Cheers
