Dumber question....................... - danimalhanke - 11.04.2009
I downloaded the Fairey Battle and it says to install buttons. Say what? I have the UI 1.1 and patched to 4.09 but I've never heard of a buttons file. Please help.
BTW I hope this is the correct area.

Quote:Button file is located at
Your Game's Install Location\files\gui\game
As long as you don't have any other button files that are hidden, just drop the new buttons file in there and let it overwrite the old one.
One word of caution though, if you have any unsupported mods that you didn't get from AAA, they may not work after you do this.
This is not correct for the FaireyBattle. What u need to do is unzip into ur MODS folder. I will add a mod called soundmod\gui\games. in this folder is a buttons file replace this files with the button zip link just below the faireybattle link in the AAA forums. I did this and everything works great! Great effort on the battle. hope this helps.

Had the same problem here when I tried to install the 4.08 & 4.09 CI ver 1.1 installer, the game loaded at 60% and then stopped.
So what I did was use a clean, no mods, install of Il2 1946 and then install 4.08 & 4.09. No problems after that.

... not trying to be arrogant here but if you don't understand mods structure i would suggest staying away from beta mods as far as possible .
Buttons file : contains data for all planes
AC Installer : contains buttons file with data for all official plane mods published up to the date of its version ( no data for beta mods here in present version )
Since Spitfire XIV got published all beta buttons files are out of date .... cos they don't contain data for new Spits
I'm sure that you've spotted new rule regarding posting buttons file : all such files needs to get submitted to Jolly and he will incorporate them in next version of AC INSTALLER !
So please wait for new AC INSTALLER
