Crackling sounds from SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS - XLO-JOKER - 14.04.2009
I have a crackling sound in my headphones And my Cambridge Soundworks Desktop speakers. So I'm pretty sure it's in the card. And its REALLY pronounced in IL-2 after installing the UI 1.1 MOD. Disabeling EAX in-game quiets it a little, but it's driving me nuts. I cant seem to find the EAX on and EAX off files in the IL-2 directory either. Could this just be dust on the surface of the soundcard, or do I have BIG problems? Thanks in advance for ANY replies or suggestions.

I had the same problem...never fixed it. I just took the card out. I thought it was a heat issue but I got a PCI fan and it didn't help...some people think its a driver issue, but I don't know. If you find an answer please post...I'd love to fix the problem.
At the bottom of the "Wikipedia" page on Audigy their are some words about the issue and possible fixes... I can't find it right now but I know its their someplace...I saw it last month. It might be the "Audigy" page or maybe the "2 ZX" page...Their is a paragraph called "problems & issues".

... not sure if this would help , but just in case ... i had similar problem with Audigy2 on Vista 64 with official Creative drivers , since i've switched to drivers offered by windows update all is well .
Also you may choose custom settings for sound drivers in IL2 setup and try more options ...

Here is a link that may help. It addresses some sound issues with IL-2 and soundcards and onboard sound. I'm sure you will get this sorted. By the way a person that flies in our online squad with IL-2 had a similar problem and by going to direct x manager and setting sound acceleration from full to standard corrected his problem. Thanks guys, I'll give it a shot. I guess I should also mention that the crackling is non-stop, even when computer is idle.

After installing a new set of drivers, installing the new DirectX, and pulling several wads of hair out of my head, I took the card out, blew it off with a can of air, and re-seated it in its PCI slot, the crackling is gone YEAH! Thanks to all that replied.
