What are the graphics mods people use? - copet - 14.04.2009

I see these really great high resolution screenshots people put up, and I was wondering what the common collection of graphics mods people are installing. I have a brand new comp, and I would love for it to look like those screenshots!

well you found the site....................... - danimalhanke - 14.04.2009

I'm not sure what you're asking? If you have a new computer you should list it's specs.
As to "graphics" this site is about "mods" which in some cases include improved graphics. Start with the basic install then using the video card's control panel increase/imporve graphics quality. For nVidia it's a "control panel" and for ATI it's called the "CCC" of Catalyst Control Center.
Remember a lot of the great screen shots in the forums are actually "touched up" with programs like "Photo Shop". I hope this helps.

edit: get IL2 Manager PF from mission4 today it's a better program and has more options.

Use "perfect"

Go to Mission4Today.com and download a program called 'IL-2 Stab'. This little utility allows you to alter all the graphics settings, as well as set up a widescreen resolution

There are many changes you can make in the conf.ini which will make big differences to the visual quality. Also there is the control panel for your graphics card where you will be able to make some other improvements. To find out how to tweak these various parts you should use the search function, as I believe it has been covered very well before.

There is alot of trial and error involved in tweaking the graphics settings, as it is dependent on your system. There is a program called 'fraps' which displays the games frame rate while you are playing, which will help you in this regard, as for the most part it is a trade off between frame rate and visual quality.

The mod which for me has given the best visual improvement with no negative effect on frame rate is Flushys 'bumpification mod' (beta section) which vastly improves the appearance of all the maps. Also I use McWolf's 'decal shine' and my prefered smoke mod is Goblins fire and smoke.

Sorry for being a noob on these things! I have a GTX260 so I should be able to handle anything. Will those mods you mentioned, Pirate, kick me from games that say "No mods"?

Hello mate, yes your card should dominate IL2.... lucky git

I don't believe that any of the mods I mentioned will affect online play, though I cant say for sure - I think you will be fine. PM me if you need any help, I only stumbled across this thread again while searching for something else.
