Problem with the XIV solved I think. - sentinel - 16.04.2009

OK, I think I have got to the bottom of things now. It would seem that somehow the program changed from 4.09 to 4.08. This seems to be due to a conflict between the Spit 14 download and the Fairey Battle download. Once the spit14 is working fine with the 799kb buttons file, as soon as you add the Fairey Battle to the air.ini file in the STD mod the game crashes at 60% load. If you are not careful it will then sometimes switch to the 4.08m version of the program.
So, as the Battle came with it's own buttons file (797kb) it will not work with the current 799kb Buttons file for the 0.93 sound mod.
Hopefully Mr Jolly will work on this at some stage.
Best regards,
Sentinel.

I never installed Battle & I still have problems( with either the Typhoon, Sabre or F-80a ...not sure which...) but with the 3.1 installer at least the Spit works fine... Cry

The bottom line is mate is that if you have added anything that is not in the default UI set up, then you may encounter problems.
The team here are trying to add stuff to the UI in official installs only.
if you add your own content from other sources or beta mods, then you have to expect dramas..

Program Crashes - davidmaton - 16.04.2009

After installing the new Spitfire Mk14c & Mk14e the 1946 Sturmovik crashes. I thought I had all the prerequirements installed for this addition. I was disappointed when the programme crashed although the Spitfire Mk14s seemed to have installed correctly with the files seemingly in the correct places. Went throught the whole process of reinstalling AAA requirements, Mod Activatore, etc, etc and then reinstalled the additional sound requirements. Found that my programme had resorted to its basic format, no AAA modifications. Reinstalled the whole lot again but still no joy with Spit Mk14s. The only thing that appeared to be an error was in the "air" file in the MODS which showed the Spit Mk14s to be "DESERT" and not "SUMMER". Whether or not this was to make any difference I was`nt sure but changed it to "SUMMER" anyway, still no joy. Have installed some of the other latest mod a/c such as Typhoon, Sabre Magister and SeaFury without any mishaps. I remain frustrated over the Spit Mk14s. Has anybody any ideas? Have a good gaming PC with plenty of RAM, Hardrive and an excellent video and sound card.

what size is your buttons file.........it has to be the 799kb one for the game to load.

I foresee three ways AAA can handle this.

1. leave things as they are (likely)

2. close public access to beta mods downloads forum (access to modders only)

3. new AC installers which edit existing buttons instead of replacing it (cannot police cheat mods)

People will continue to d/l unofficial mods without reading the AAA disclaimer, then post in the same thread that says "this will conflict with unofficial mods" saying they have a conflict with some unofficial mods...

B e t a mods not official. Beta mods conflict. Mods from other site not official. Mods from other site conflict. Official mods all have AC installer. Official mods all in official mods section.

I have the same problem. Everyone has the same problem. I have unofficial mods. Tough luck for me Wink Must solve problem myself, or choose what I have and what I have to throw away. I haven't installed MkXIV yet, I want to, but have to resolve conflict before I do. That's just how it is. You play, you pay.

Cheers, hope I didn't seem mean. Just laying it out there to be informative as clearly as possible.

As you have installed beta aircraft it may well be buttons or air ini files, plus, either weapons_ru or planes_ru discrepancies..
I trust you have tried installing the spit manualy.. which is required if you are using any beta mods..

regarding the last set of WIP aircraft added to the air.ini file, my 799kb buttons file works with the Typhoon.....what I would do if I were you david maton is leave all files as they are but just remove the names of the most recent aircraft, using the 799kb buttons file and try to load each time until the spit 14 loads OK and so do it by elimination.
