Game Crashing at 5% - Lucas_from_hell - 20.04.2009

Hello all, I'm new with dealing with mods, but anyway...

I just downloaded some planes (Spitfire Mk. I, Mosquito B XVI, Beaufighter Mk. X, Hurricane Mk. IID, Tiger Moth, Fw-190A-3) and maps (Canon's Channel Map, plus Compan's textures for it, and Italy-Africa-Greece map), plus the required Sound Mod (picked 9.0), AC Installer 3.1, Wrapper, Mod Activator 5.2 for 4.08. I've also downloaded the Reticles Mod v6.

Anyway, every time I try opening the game, it closes at 5%. Does anyone here have a solution for this problem?

Ouch .... that

"Did you install the mods individually and try the game after each?"

Uh, no... But this is actually my second try at mods. Once I downloaded only the Mark I Spitfire, but I had lots of problems, had to uninstall and lost everything.

"Are you running either UI (1.0 or 1.1)?"

No.

"Did you happen to do a backup before you started to install the mods"

Yes, at this time I did it.

"because I think your best bet at this point is to do the uninstall/reinstall shuffle."

Will try to do it then.

"Heck, I left one line out of an air.ini file on the Spit XIV and got kicked at 60% till I remebered I had only done two and missed the third."

I don't believe this can work with me, as these I downloaded had self-installers.

Did you try this .......

"IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES PLEASE SEARCH WITHIN YOUR MODS FOLDER FOR 'BUTTONS' FILE.
THE ONLY LOCATION THE BUTTONS FILE SHOULD BE IS ....
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\files\gui\game\
IF IT IS ANYWHERE ELSE YOU SHOULD REMOVE IT & INSTALL AC_INSTALLER"

It is already there, and now I've remembered I got the Fairey Battle also, and the Buttons file recommended on the topic.

"IF YOU CANT SEE YOUR NEW AIRCRAFT PLEASE SEARCH WITHIN YOUR MODS FOLDER FOR FOLDERS 'AIR_INI' + 'PLANE_RU_P' + 'WEAP_RU_P'. THESE FOLDERS SHOULD NOT BE THERE PLEASE DELETE THEM"

Ok, will try to reinstall and then try it. But, one question: what version is better to have when using mods: 4.08 or 4.09?

- Lucas_from_hell - 20.04.2009

I just reinstalled the game, and now I'm trying out some stuff here.

I installed the Sound Mod, then Wrapper then AC Installer, and it crashes at 5%...

Now I'm downloading other versions of Sound Mod, hope one of them work.

UPDATE: Patched it again to 4.08, installed no aircraft, only Sound, Wrapper, AC Installer and MOD Activator and somehow it worked. Now I'll start installin the planes.

I'm sorry LfH .... you did great, I only wish I had seen this before you installed anything on that clean copy. You want to get to 4.09.

Install one of the Universal Installers first (1.0 or 1.1) it makes everything very easy after that since it installs the sound, MOD activator, wrapper, etc, most everything you'll need. It's pretty foolproof and an all in one stop. Then loading maps and planes becomes easier.

Hate to say it I'd go back and reinstall, then install UI 1.1. Don't worry about the self installers .... if you want dump them to a temp file and install manually. I've done this with many files .... but not the AC Installer. Load the UI and then the AC installer and pick #6 when prompted (#6 Universal Installer) ... then load planes.

Hope you get there .... the UI makes it so easy.

Unified Installer version 1.1 (MIRROR 1)
(The link is inoperative)

Maybe I'll get UI later, thanks for the assistence, mate.

Well, now I'm trying to make the Channel map work, I'm having some trouble on it...

But, well, I installed it all on 4.08. Hope it won't cause trouble (if anything happens, I have the 4.09 files here, so I guess I'm fine)

Thanks again.

(So far installed most of the planes without errors, now testing the Spit Mark I)
