What does this mean? - davido53 - 26.04.2009

Hi Davido53,
Just to check before you start - you've got Il2 1946 and have applied the 4.08 patch from here:
http://www.gamershell.com/download_17669.shtml
I think you may have missed a download section from the Unified Installer?
The UI1.1 comes in
8 separate download parts here:
(The link is inoperative)
and you need to have them all in the
same folder before you run part 1 (easy if you save each download to desktop then cut & paste all 8 into a new folder)
And you'll need the patch from here to run afterwards
(The link is inoperative)
Hope this helps
shout again if you're stuck

Save all Parts - hawker445 - 26.04.2009
there are parts to teh folder. when u get the pop up that says if you want to open it or save it SAVE it to a folder on your desktop and once you have all teh parts to whatever mod with parts you are downloading. select all the rar fils right click and extract to whatecer the file name is

I'll give it another shot, thank you very much.

you downloaded from one of the mirrors, didn't you. change the name of 2,3,4,5,6 to AAA_CommunityInstaller_Ver_1_1_Part03, instead of AAA_Communityinstaller_v.3.rar. The differents in the name, mainly the last parts, is what the installer doesn't reconize. Thats what fixed it for me. And you dont have to put the .rar on the end. It doent like that either.

The use of part three is an example, change the last part not the number. If all that is the same, just remove the .rar from the file name

Ok, I d/l all files and attempted the exe.
I got a failure message, so how do I know which of the many files are corrupt?
also, all of the d/l's say: part03 part 04, etc

you need to save all the rar downloads to a folder on your desktop. when thats done select all of it. right click and extract to folder that has the same name as the rar files

Sorry to be so dense, but all the files have different names, or numbers actually, one through seven.
If I extract them to another folder, what does that do?
At what point do you doubleclick the executable?
And do you have to rename the folder where all the files are saved?

Hi davido53,
you should have 8 files numbered 1 thru 8 from this section of the UI 1.1 page:
(are you using these links to download or one of the mirrors? I would suggest use these)
which should look like this once in a new folder on your computer. You don't need to name the folder they're in anything in particular, I called mine 'UI1.1'
once you have this you don't need to extract anything! just double click the part.01 executable file, follow the instructions it gives and it will do all that for you

Thank you for your patience, I think it is all working now !!!
One question...
I now have two new folders on my desktop, one is Mods, the other is Mapmods
do i put these into my il2 folder?
thanks again!
- Tigger88 - 27.04.2009
Excellent
nearly there now! before we do anything with the folders can you let me know -
is there anything in the folders?
do you have a MODS folder in your Il2 folder? - is there a MapMods folder in it?
- davido53 - 27.04.2009
Yes, the Mods folder has numerous aircraft folders but no files inside, in fact it shows 0 bytes in properties.
The Mapmods folder has 2 folders inside and is 73 MB in size.
my IL2 1946 folder has a Mods folder but not a Mapmods folder inside.
- Tigger88 - 27.04.2009
OK! I think some of these may be left over from when you ran part of the UI from the pic in your first post.
In your main Il2 1946 MODS folder, right click & 'sort by name' so its alphabetical - easier for future reference!
double check there's not a mapmods folder already there - if not then cut & paste the Mapmods folder from your desktop into your Il2 1946 MODS folder.
do the aircraft folders in your Il2 1946 MODS folder have files in? (usually a '3do' folder + bits)? if so then you can delete the Mods folder from your desktop.
That should be it. Let me know if you get any snags tho
If you're playing offline use the 'Switch-409_Mods_On' in your Il2 1946 folder to enable all the UI1.1 mods
use 'Switch-408_Mods_On' or '_Off' (depending on server) for your online games.
