PC wont start? - making153 - 02.05.2009

Went to fire up my PC this morning - nothing!! Opened her up and the green Mobo light is on and the red 'HDD' activity light is on, on the front panel, no fans no HDD activity at all.

I've stripped out the PSU ready for a new one hoping thats all it is - what do you guys reckon??

Using works PC for this !

Probably the PSU, hope it did not take out anything else when it failed.

One guy thought that the problem is the processor, he bought a new one, made a necklace from old one and noticed that the problem was in the PSU...

Fingers crossed guys!!

Keep you posted cant do it till monday now - missing my IL2 already !!

Is there the outside chance that the connector for the case power switch had came off the MoBo pins? its unlikely granted, but i've learned that with computers anything is possible.

It might be the PSU, but like you said the light for the MoBo are on, so it is getting power... It might be worth installing the PSU again, just to be sure.

Good luck!

What a to do !!

Fitted the new PSU and she fired up all fans etc going but refused to boot !! After much detective work discovered it was my PCI USB expansion card at fault - I guess the old PSU fried it before conking out (I reinstalled the old PSU and its def knackerd).

So i'm now fixed but cant get my speakers to work now - soundcard drivers et al are installed and the software reports no problems just NO sound at all ??

Bl**dy computers!!

Glad it was a small thing. Smile You check every card and memory stick is seated correctly by pressing once more on them, but you miss one cable. I get those too. Smile
