Alternate History Campaigns - mbrew - 03.05.2009

Hello all,

I'd really like to find some alternate history campaigns to play through. You know the sort, where WW2 never happened or Germany won etc.. Anyone got any good links they would like to share with me?

Cheers, Mike

If you use DCG then the Darwin42 campaign above is a hypothetical campaign based on what might have happened if the Japanese had a bigger success at Pearl Harbour and had sunk several carriers and this resulted in more later battles going their way resulting eventually in enough extra forces being available for a invasion of Darwin instead of being restricted to bombing raids.

Much like Captain Miller in Saving Private Ryan, this campaign is "one I save just for me."
But maybe it will give you ideas.

Hitler is killed in WW1, without a dynamic figure to lead them the Nazi party fails to capture even a regional seat of government. Germany adopts democracy in the form of a parliament, a prime minister, and presidency. It is able to survive the economic depression by securing forgiveness of war reparations and the abolition of its imperial style government.

The League of Nations, instead of folding, is drastically redesigned, becoming much more like the UN. One of the key requirements for membership is a democratically elected government. Russia is refused membership.

Russia begins to expand its influence by supporting Communist movements in Europe and China, and expand its borders by invading eastern Europe, from Sweden in the North to Bulgaria in the South.

Japan, having fought with Russia for several decades over territorial disputes, joins the League of Nations. Internally, the representative government is able to fight off militarists. The emperor remains a figure head. When China falls to the Communists, military planners realize the threat and convince the government to authorize a military buildup, including a large and modern air force.

Chinese nationalists, unable to convince the League of Nations (LON) to send troops and equipment, surrender to the Communists. The Chinese Communists quickly begin to build a massive military, intent on "freeing Asia from the curse of Capitalistic Empires." They first invade Southeast Asia and Korea. Realizing Japan is too well defended to launch an all out assault, China begins to sweep south from Vietnam in an attempt to encircle and cut off Japan.

The stage is set for an alternative World War II.

In my personal campaign I story lines for pilots from Germany, Hungary, and America, starting in 1936 or so.

With so much modding now going on the possibilities are endless.

In the 20's and 30's, many Asians looked to Japan as an Asian power capable of ending European colonialism. So a scenario that allies Japan, the US, and Nationalist China against the Soviet Union and the European powers to liberate Asia from both Soviet Communism AND free European possessions in Java and east and south asia would be an idea. At the same time the US cedes Independance ot the Phillippines who join in the Trans-pacific Alliance. Australia and New Zealand could either be allied with the British Empire or cut ties to join the Trans-Pac Alliance. With the forgotten countries mod, such an alliance campaign is truly possible
