Engine Exhaust Flames - XR-A - 03.05.2009

The jets have flames coming out of the exhaust.....could the piston engine planes have the same....sure would be a realistic effect.....and would look great on night flights.

Great idea.

Keep in mind that exhaust flames are dependent on engine RPMs vs fuel octane. High octane = lower rpm's before exhaust flames. Germans used quite low octane fuel (70..80) compared to Allied (100..130) so German planes should have exhaust flames later (rpm-wise) than Allied aircraft.
