Who needs an elevator or rudder? - CrisMoreno - 04.05.2009
Was just flying a little mission yesterday.Full of frustration of not hitting the Hurri I just barrel-rolled into it! Well at least it worked and I got home safely. But without rudder and one elevator.

I once crash landed a He-111 after losing both aileron and rudder control (I used the torque on each engine to adjust roll)
It is theoretically possible to fly a great distance using only flaps and throttle to control pitch and torque to control roll/yaw.

who needs elevators indeed?
that's why i always bring along a spare - one never knows when one encounters a hurri:

I can beat all of you!!
I know this is hard to believe.....but I once completed a mission with all appendages still attached to my aircraft and I landed it on its wheels....now beat that!!!

I can't land normally, yet I somehow put an aileron-less SBD down on its home carrier after a long, long flight without causing any damage to either it or myself...
