FMB Rejects Certain Mods - caldrail - 12.05.2009
I've noticed that a few new mods are crashing the FMB. So far the Bf109E-1, Bf109E-3, and Cant1007 are the villains I name and shame. Everything works until you attempt to access the individual aircraft page on the 'view objects' dialog. Of course I can edit the mission file afterward, but I shouldn't need to. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I don't think it has anything to do with another mod, but with something inherent on the Bf109 mods themselves. For the Bf109's a patch was posted a while ago. I too had the same problem with the FMB crashing. But now after applying the patch it's fine. You can open the view objects for one of those Bf109's and everything works like it should.
On the Cant1007 I can't say anything since I still can't get the plane to run.

This is a problem I have discussed a month or two ago. It also affects the Typhoon and the P.24. I haven't checked the Battle yet. The problem is in the way these aircraft are programmed. In the case of the Bf 109E-1 and E-3 series, there is a fix by Canon - look it up. As for the rest of the aircraft, we can only hope that someone or the author fix the code.

It's to do with how Ranwers modified the meshes. Instead of creating and importing new 3d meshes from 3DS Max, he used a hex-editor to change them. The FMB doesn't like that, hence the problems. The way I fixed the E-1 was to identify the meshes he had changed with the hex-editor and then make new ones in 3DS MAx to replace them.
That was relatively simple for aircraft like the E-1 which just needed a new canopy and mid-wing section. But for aircraft like the Cant which are totally edited meshes I don't think there'd be a fix aside from remaking the entire thing from scratch.
