In this Campaign you will fly for VMF-323 off the USS Badeong Strait CVE-116 during the battles of the Pusan Perimeter, and the Invasion of Inchon during the Korean War. You will need The KTO Map from AAA, ShipPack 2, The F9F Panther and, The Carrier Mod

30 June 1950 - Havelock, North Carolina
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
News of the invasion of South Korea was just beginning to flood the media in Havelock. You are currently stationed with VMF-323 at Marine Airbase, Cherry Point. You served in War Two as a young lieutenant wingman with VMF-323 over Okinawa, and had been credited with shooting down two Japanese kamikazes. After the war you earned the right to stay on permanent duty with VMF-323. By the summer of 1950 you had risen to the rank of Captain, and become VMF-323s assistant G-2.
Currently you are one of the evaluation pilots working on the F9F Panther project. It has been your responsibility to fly a variety of sorties in the Navy Jet from Cherry Point, and then turn a report into the project leader at MAG-33.
Everyone in town has this look of dread, because they know that most of the Marine squadrons, and their personnel from Cherry Point would be sent to fight this new UN war.
Now someone has to make suitable, (historically correct), Corsair too...
Great news Dixiecapt... Big Grin
I hope by then the Ship Pack will be standarized for the UI, 'cause I uninstalled it since I couldn't get my game work with it... Sad
- Dixiecapt - 13.05.2009
elephant I can help you with the Shipack.
Dixiecapt this looks great! I am just now reading a book on the Korean War by a gentlman named Catchpole.
Dixiecapt Wrote:You Will See, and Kill Infantry in this Campaign.
Sounds great! But I have to ask is someone working on a damage model for these little dudes?
Reason why I ask is I did some tests and they came up invincible.
See here
I strafed the heck out of the little imported dudes with a P-39 and they weren't even singed Confusedhock:
Are there these or others that will die for their country?
Just was curious how.
Thanks
Looking forward to flying into combat in the Panther 8)
Cheers
when i strafe infantry, (Nod Delvpiers Infantry, but LaL R.) then they disapear.... thats about as good as that is going to get. But I'm going to take the time to load up some roads with infantry, or have a wave of USMC frozen in position as if waiting to commit a charge, on dug in NKPD or Chinese Forces.
Update, Part 1 complete - Dixiecapt - 26.05.2009
Part one of the USMC KTO Campaign has been finished,
the question is do I want to release these first ten set of missions, or keep on... hmmm, choices choices.
Part One: Walker's War: The Battle for Pusan
- Begins at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina testing the F9F-2 Panther's capability on USMC Camp LeJeune ranges. followed by a few missions as VMF-323 arrives at Japan on USS CVE-116 Badeong Strait. Following such the squadron will mainly strike threats to the western side of the Perimeter around the Naktong Buldge.
Note: This Campaign will come with a Skin for CVE-116 to be applied to your IL-2, and an original backup of the Carrier to be skinned.
Sounds great DixieCapt- what map will you use for NC?
Thanks
go on. release it. you know you want to! Big Grin
*Chuckles at Nik* I think I'm going to drive on with the next segment, "Inchon!", and attach such to Walker's War.
That way the next segment can be the "Frozen Chosin" ,& the Panther segment with VMF-311.
Tri I used Besserabia it has the coastline, and coastal islands I needed for North Carolina.
- nick11 - 27.05.2009
bummer. i'll just have to be patient.
hey - and we really do need new F4U-4s and F4U-5s.
it's such a mean looking aircaft.
keep up the great work!
- Dixiecapt - 28.05.2009
This is the True Story of Operation Trudy Jackson, which you will have several missions supporting in this Campaign.
c'mon dixicap - now you're just teasing!
i know you're hankering for a real F4U-4 and 5.
- stansdds - 29.05.2009
The Pacific fighters crowd has been begging for the F4U-4 ever since 1C released Pacific Fighters, now we have a Korean map and campaign, but still no F4U-4. Given a choice between having the -4 and the -5, I'd take the -4 as it served in combat during the last three months of WW II and saw extensive use throughout the Korean War. There was a thread discussing the possibility of a -4, I do not know how to 3D model or write flight models, but I offered to provide technical information and photographs. So far, no one is willing to pick up the project. Sad
- Dixiecapt - 29.05.2009
I am building this campaign with the F4U-1C as VMF-323s F4U-4's were armed with 20mm.
