Found a picture of when I got up into the Mustang in Oregon. And I tried to pose just like Robin Olds did on his P-51 Mustang "Scat VII." Robin Olds was an icon. He destroyed 17 enemy aircraft in WWII and Vietnam. He was an ace in the Lighting, Mustang and shot down 4 Migs in the F-4 Phantom. Sadly, General Olds passed away on June 14th, 2007. I know it's not perfect but I thought it wasn't too bad.

General Robin Olds, this ones for you buddy.

Very cool. BTW, I know a guy who drove Olds all the way across Wisconsin for the Oshkosh airshow. I guess he was quite a character.

Gotta love those big old hangars at Tillamook.

Now Robin Olds's Mustang "Scat VII" is still around. The actual aircraft he flew in WWII is somewhere in Seattle. I've been looking for it's location but I can't seem to find it.

Those warbirds are an elusive bunch it has to be said... You have to get lucky to find someone that actually knows exactly, because usually it's such a niche interest that people don't have a clue...

I know there are several bomber crashsites around where I live, but I've only managed to find them through searching the net, nobody around here seems to notice/care... I will be doing a tour at some point to the various sites and might post the pics here... not that there is much remaining of the planes if anything at all...

You are extremely lucky to live near so much WW2 aviation history my friend... Make sure you take the pics for us across the pond so we can enjoy them too

Thanks!
