HVY Escort 15 May 09 - {HVY-E}Jinxx - 15.05.2009

Departed the base in my P47 'Abandon All Hope' and linked up with two B17's and proceeded on a 090 heading for climb out. Once we reached 25,000 ft. the bombers turned in for target, (enemy airbase and shipping).

Well, there I am, flying along admiring the contrails coming off the bombers engines when all of a sudden one of the gunners calls out, "BANDITS, 6oc Low". I immediately flipped over on my back to do a belly check and sure enough, there's one lone BF109-G6 climbing up from the bombers low 8oc position. Since I was already upside down, I rolled the wings 90 degrees to the left and pulled her into sweeping right hand dive to come in from the sun, above and behind the 109. As I got closer, I couldn't believe my luck, this guy brought wing pods..... 8)

I don't think he ever saw me until it was too late. I dove in at over 620mph from his 5oc, pulled the trigger and watched the bullets rake his plane from his right wingtip to his canopy. His engine smoking and fuel streaming from his wing, I pulled up verticle to admire my handy work. His plane plummeted down from 20,000ft to the dirt in about 7 seconds. No chute..... poor bastard never had a chance.

Guess next time he'll look for the escorts...........

Good story, where i can download the skin of the p-47?

- {HVY-E}Jinxx - 15.05.2009

The Group Skins are actually not available for download..... yet.
I haven't decided if I'm going to make them public yet or not.
The other skins I've done are, however, available right here on AAA.

I did up a bunch of P47's for the 334th. Currently working on a bunch of P51's, but due to Base Ball season, I've been unable to get much free time to work on them.

As one of the bomber pilots who is typically escorted I can attest to the value of having someone close at hand when the enemy come up!

Semi OT: You got the name from "Above and Beyond", from Chiggy von Richthofen's spacecraft?

I based the plane skin off of it... :-)
But the quote is from Dante's Inferno.

I loved watching that show. Whish they would've done another season.

Smile Oh well, that's how most SF series end up. Firefly, Farscape.

...and yeah, "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here" is written on Dante's impression of the gates of hell. We don't have to expect writers to be 100% original, do we? Wink

Bravery proved - pretoriasark - 17.05.2009

Being my self one of those Bomber pilots that allways fly with such magnifisence through the sky, I proudly affirm that the Bravery of those all powered knights that protect us up there, make us feel safe and threatening as the deadly sound of our bombs destroy what once had the name of life.

Hail My HVY-Escorts
