Flying gliders in QMB - HansHansen - 18.05.2009

How to get the gliders listed in the list in QMB?

I would really like to have them there, and to fly them without editing each combination of friendly and enemy planes.

hmm, it'd be fun, i agree..

Hmm.... if you look in the air.ini file located in MODS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects the G-11's entery is:

G-11 air.G_11 1 NOQUICK r01 SUMMER

note the NOQUICK bit... I reckon if you deleted the NOQUICK bit, you might be able to fly it in QMB, but I wouldn't suggest giving it to the ai (as ai might be incomplete for it) and i don't recommend you do tamper with its entry anyway as you might bugger up the game. I might give that a try myself even so, however, but i strongly suggest you don't, or if you do -- on your own head be it.

--edit--
similarly in theory any other entries with the NOQUICK could be altered the same way.

You have to go to the air.ini and delete the words "noquick" from the lines of the aircraft you want to appear in the QMB.

Big Grin Moggy beat me to it! I have mine set up that way and it works fine so don't worry.

Open the air.ini file and remove the NOQUICK part of the line for the G-11 and Me-321.

even for ai aircraft? Do they fly in a straight line? Follow way points till they hit the ground?

THANKS GUYS!!

It works fine.

the ai flies, but i dont think with the best speed, because it wants to pull up, but they have no engine.

It explodes from going to fast even tho it has no engine or fuel tank. Its just balsam wood Tongue

EDIT: Also the AI ignores you

For sometrhing a bit different, you can fly a glider through the Grand Canyon, with the help of the wind mod... 8)

- HansHansen - 18.05.2009

sure the wind is simulated so good?

Alpen map would be great, too!!

Hey guys, noticing as I changed the air.ini file to use these changes, several aircraft also have this no quick thingy. The Mistel is the one that I spotted first. Do you know why this is or have you tried flying the mistel in QMB
thanks for replies, spitty

I tried it but if you use the mistel in the QMB it just gives you either the 190 on its own, or else the ju88 with no cockpit on its own. It doesn't put them together because you can only select one of them at a time in QMB. You would need to create a full mission with the FMB to join them together. Sad
