[Download]Ted Williams' F9F-2 Panther skin - VC-81_BOLTER - 20.05.2009

Baseball legend Ted Williams played for the Boston Red Sox. Having been in the US Marine Corps in both WWII and Korea as a combat pilot he flew the F4UCorsair and the F9F Panther. Ted's squadron in both conflicts was VMF-311. This was the same Marine Corps squadron that John Glenn served in. On February 17, 1953, Ted was shot up badly but made it back to base in this plane I have redone below.

Oops! Highlander you're right! I will repair that at once before the download is public. Thanks for catching that. This is what happens when you sit at the computer in the middle of the night.

Actually Bolter, it would have been more fitting had it been #9 given that his number on the Red Sox was 9 Smile

Teddy Ballgame would nod his frozen head in approval I'm sure
Ted was a hero to many for many reasons.
Well done Bolter
or as we say up here in Boston "wicked awesome skin guy!"
Tom out

It is a bit "too blue" though

I saw an interview with Ted when he was in his mid 60's and the sportscaster asked him the usual questions about his batting tiles, hitting .406, and his personal awards and asked him 'What was the one thing you were most proud of in your career?"

Without hesitation Ted answered "The thing that I'm most proud of in my life was that I was a Marine Aviator."

That always stuck in my mind.. the reporter didn't know what to say Smile
