Can anyone tell me how to make the aircraft start on the ramp instead of the end of the runway in a coop mission using FMB?

it cant be done.

I remember it being discussed... last fall I think it was. I also remember there being talk of map makers being able to make spawn points on taxiways, but never heard any more of it- I know I haven't found any maps that do that.

Bottom line: unsure.

Anyone else? Anyone working on this now?

It can be done by place runways over the ramp area you want to start in. I use runway 3 to start with, to get placement, have to move runway back and forth so plane will spawn where you want it, also may need to spin runway so plane will face in the direction you want.

After your placement use runway 4 to turn invisible, may have to adjust again a bit, look for the two white ending marks on runway 4 to get lined up.

Only drawback is the maybe bump once your taxi off these runways, you may have to lay additional runways next to each other too get you to the runway without breaking your gear or bouncing 50ft in the air lol.

If you can't make it too runway without crashing lay a couple of invisible runways on the main runway, also be careful not to use to many runways because they will cause lag!

Thanks for that reply Merlin.

Is there any way you or someone could put a sample somewhere?

Seems like I tried something like that, but the plane bolted forward from its taxi point, with predictable results

there is a mod. jst not on this site i belevie. go to

http://capin.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=2987601

there are mods on here that you won't find on this site. bigger than the UI

There was a mod which reduced the airstrip 'circle of influence' ...so that it was easier to start from hangers etc.... but it had its conflicts too.

A map-maker can easily add spawn points additional to the runway ones

Set fuel to zero on planes that are ai controlled, that are on the ramp, only planes that have human pilots can taxi out to main runways from the ramp area.

Wish ai's could taxi out, but impossibel in this sim, Ai's with zero fuel on the ramp will dissapear after pilots bail.

It is really cool though to have a bunch of live pilot, cranking up on the ramp instead of already lined up on runway. Just don't over do it, because there is a definte fps hit with this method.

You can also make a plane spawn anywhere on a map. First click "takeoff" waypoint & let the icon snap to the nearest runway. Then drag the takeoff point anywhere on the map. Provided it is more than 1.2km from a runway, the plane will spawn where you place the takeoff waypoint. ie. Spawn on roads, taxiways (some airfields like Banff), grass fields etc.

Spawning on Ramp - tlj825 - 23.05.2009

I must be missing something. I have repositioned (Coop) the object aircraft in takeoff mode farther than 1.5K away, then repositioned it when it snaps to the end of the runway. On the map it shows on the ramp in in actual coop game play, it still spawns at the end of the runway!!!! The idea was to have them start from the ramp(player) and have to taxi to the end of the runway. Thanks for all the posts
