Hi

I'm probably not the first to think of this but...

Would it be possible to add a modifed version of the napalm bomb weapon with water splash effects instead of the fireballs, the would be droppable on modified, destructible versions of the 'fire' static objects ?
The 'waterbomb' weapon would have very little destructive power so you couldn't use it against hard targets, and the fires would have very small ( so you wouldn't be able to take them out with machineguns ) but very weak hitpoints so that just one bomb would be able to take out several.

We already have a C-47 in the game that could be modified into a waterbomber.

This could attract new civilian simmers to the game, and who knows, maybe a few of those great M$FS modellers.

Does any other sim model this kind of life-saving air warfare ? I'm guessing only military sims can handle dropping stuff on the ground, and I can't think of another MOD like this.

Anyway, what do you MOD gurus think ?

Where do you think I got the idea from ? Big Grin

Unfortunately the ArmA engine does a poor job of modelling flight and planes are a real PITA to fly with really odd behaviour. We need a MOD like this in a flight sim...

Hello Porco Rosso,

I like the idea of a fire-fighter (water bomber) aircraft. By now, we have quite a few aircraft in the game, that could interesting to fly in civilian, non-combat missions or campaigns. I have made a few missions toying around with rescue scenarios for the Ar-196, or the Russian flying boat. Perhaps, some of this could be combined with a fire fighting campaign, once the be necessary mods are available. Could this even work for the PBN, too?

Unfortunately, I have no knowledge and skills in modding. Therefore, I encourage any of you talented modders to help make this possible.

Unfortunately I'm no modder either and wouldn't know where to start. First thing would be to create a new 'water weapon' and a destructible version of the 'fire' and 'smoke' static objects. Looks like everyone with the skills required to do this is busy right now, but maybe someday...

Could be a great online scenario too : both sides would fly bombers on a map covered with forests, one side would be armed with incendiary bombs, the other with water bombs Big Grin Of course everyone would have gunners on their bombers, so there could be 'heavies' dogfights over the fires. Would be super sweet wouldn't it ? Not sure that could really be done (bombs creating expanding destructible fires... ? )
