SOUNDMOD_RIPPED_V1b.

Resume:
Returns original IL-2 sounds. Suppresses external engine sounds(
Not removes them, but makes them quiet). Other Soundmod functionalities remains intact (
you can install other mods like original soundmod allowed).
Details:
Soundmod presets corrected to use original IL-2 sounds directly from sfs. Probably because it's quite unrealistic?
Try it in a car, you are not able to hear things behind you. Only when it comes by you will hear it, or when it has a really higher volume then your own car.
Now reflected on 800+ HP aircraft, i can really imagine that it's hard to hear anything over the sound of your own engine, plus the radio that's over your ears. Even with proper sound-damping materials installed for that era.
One of the very few exceptions I know about, would be the Tu-95 Bear, which is described as being so loud, that it can be heard inside the cockpit of other planes that fly near it.

Maybe i used wrong words,
it doesnt remove external sounds, its just make them so quiet, what you can hear other plane usually not farther than 10-50 meters, thats all.

The noise from a paltry two and a half litre Lycoming engine on the Cessna's I used to fly was deafening enough. Very punishing on the ears unless you had earphones on.
The reality is that you wouldn't hear another aircraft (regardless of engine size) unless it was very close. This is one reason why people got bounced by enemy fighters - they weren't looking and
never heard it coming.
On one flight down to Shoreham, on the south coast, I was flying near a Piper Cub whose heading crossed mine at an acute angle. No risk of collision, we both observed each other. Eventually he passed under me by fifty feet or so, and there was no sound other than my own engine.
Or in the case of one flight where my instructor tapped me on the shoulder and pointed down the blind side of the Cessna. Immediately another aeroplane pulled up sharply over me and I never heard his engine until I was flying under him. Only for a brief second, whilst we were at our closest.
If I had been an external observer, in both cases the engine noise of all aircraft involved would have been very audible.

I've always hated the way that the game makes external noises audible over the sound of your engine. Wholly unrealistic. I'll gladly try something like this that removes such an ugly game-exploit. Thanks!

I have these old il2 sounds but still hearing all enine externall sounds.
Did you hire external engine sounds from other planes?
I test this on net.

Found minor bug, when taking off from a carier with serveral other planes, you hear their tyrescreach a bit too loud, even when you're far away from the carier.
I like the mod a lot furtheron but I'm still missing that deep "whooaam" sound of the first Il2FB.

My enligsh is not very good, i was trying to say what engines external sound volume is reduced, but not removed or silenced completely. So you can hear external sound of other plane engine but on much lesser distance, usually not farther than 10-50 meters.

I have tried to change only engines sounds, weapons and other sounds most likely left intact. Thanks for input!

A question; is there a way to keep all my modded engine sounds (because I do like them alot better then the default ones), but to supress the external sounds?
Or is there already some mod for it?

Its ok.
You can ceep your modified sound.... just leave samples alone.
These sounds are great for engine abaut volume, but not with weapons (they r loud!!!!!)
Great work man... mean idea!
Try to decrease volume for weapons.
Thanks!
