Help with my JoyStick.. - Otellino - 16.06.2009
Hey all, I dont know if im posting this in the right place, but im having a problem with my joystick...
Its a Thrustmaster HOTAS x, and I had it working perfectly on my 2 other computers, but suddenly it wont work..
The thing is, the acceleration stick wont...well, accelerate... When I go to controlls and set it to Increase and Decrease Engine power, it wont even detect it, and in Windows Calibration Wizzard, it thinks the Acceleration Stick is the Z axis, and not the slider, and it wont recognise anything as the slider...
As I said, it worked on both my other PC's, one Windows Vista Ultimate, another Vista Ultimate 64bit...
This is a Vista Home Premium 64bit machine

Your first port of call to go to, when you're having problems with your Coug' is Frugal's World of Simulation. We will help you solve your troubles in the special subsection.
But it sounds like your throttle potentiometer died (like so many before), so you will likely have to contact "Thrustmaster Support" and they should send you a replacement for the cost of the part and shipping.
Alternatively, you could be interested in the throttle mods available at Frugal's World. There is Cubpilot's HE-sensor mod, IJ's

Im sorta a noob at this lol, what do you mean the potentiometer died? also, the accelertor does work, just not in the way you'd expect, when I go to the Calibration wizzard, moving the accelerator forwards and backwords dosent affect the "Slider", it affects the "Z Axis"... this is really confusing...

Oh and I forgot to say, it works perectly with Flight Simulator 2004 and Flight Simulator X

also on this site is a tool called,IL-2 Joycontrol that is a great calibration tool if using 2 different control devices,ie, joystick and seperate rudder pedals.

- As I don't have Vista, I can't help you with Vista specific problems.
- Using "Windows Calibration" with a Cougar is not good, if I remember correctly.
- IL2 does not recognise a Cougar throttle the first time. You have to go "Controls" and click on the throttle axis, then move throttle forward. Mine says "-Z axis" too, so that's good.
- If you have problems with your Cougar, drop by Frugal's World.
