Avoid a re-install - 'Sweeney' Todd - 21.06.2009
I have found that the best method of avoiding a reinstall is;
1. Change the date of all files and folders of

Hi JWTodd!
Because I'm now just working with two installation copies
(first MOD 9.3, second UI1.1. patched) I see the difficulties
but also the benefits of multiple IL2 copies. It really costs a lot
of HD space (I found no way until now to have only one
"shareable" paintschemes-Skin Folder, and I have about 15GB
in any of these folders , but unfortunately I need them).
But what I don't understand is your method of changing the date.
Is this a special trick I've missed? Why are you doing this?

I use a tool that resides in the 'File Menu' (when you right click on an item in Explorer). It is called 'FileMenu Tools' and is available for FREE download at:
http://download.cnet.com/FileMenu-Tools ... 10545.html
Remember to go into 'Configure FileMenu Tools and make change date available.
I do back up every thing including paint schemes, it's safer this way. You can get an external (small) hard disk for very little if you shop around. I have one that is only used for the IL-2 backup.

Thank you for the explanation!
Hope I've understood it correctly: Date changing is necessary for correct backup!
I must admit that I was too lazy  to make backups in the right way, I allways make
only simple copies of all data (mostly the whole directories) I suppose I had changed,
and thats a mistake, I know. I will change this, in the end correct "backuping"
will be easier and safer and - most of all - I will make it more often!
Thanks again and
excuse for my english.

Not necessary to change dates but it is easy to see what has changed when a mod is installed and sometimes reversible without using the back up.

I've always been a believer in #3, so many times people install multi-MODs and run into problems and never really understand where or what caused the problems...
