Cant find new skins - Davis0079 - 23.06.2009

Everytime I use paint or gimp to make a new skin it doesnt show up in game. Even when I just open a void with paint or gimp it removes the void from the game. And I dont even change anything. It stays in bmp format, but something is defenitly happening. Any Ideas.

here's the most common solution to this problem: You have to make sure that you are saving the bitmap in 8- bit format, or using a program like bright to convert it from a 24 bit to 8 bit. That's the most common problem I've seen. Paint's default bitmap setting is 24 bits, and in gimp, when you save as a bitmap, you have to make sure that in the advanced options window that pops up you save it as a 24 bit, not 32 (which is gimp 2.6 and higher's default setting). Once you have your 24 bit skins (should be 3 mb in size), you need to download bright from one of the sites such as simmerspaintshop or mission4today, and use it to convert the 24 bit files to 8 bit. after they are converted, they should be 1 mb in size.
