modern aircraft? - asmosdeus - 27.06.2009
The avro vulcan was commisioned in 1952,thats not so long after this era
or the lat WW2 british jet fighters like the vampire and the meteor
why hasn't anyone suggested this?!
- Bearcat - 27.06.2009
Maybe because this is a 10 year old engine and the folks who do this have limited time since it is all voluntary...
- rossmum - 27.06.2009
There's absolutely no reason the engine can't handle the early Vulcan. It was subsonic and I strongly doubt the RAF had any complex avionics in the early- to mid-50s.
If I was less terrible at modelling planes, I'd chalk this up for my next to-do after the Ar240... however that project is currently giving me enough trouble, so if someone does make this beauty (and I really hope they do), it probably won't be me.
I might ask around some of my less project-laden and more motivated friends, see if any of them feel up to it

flakiten or PeterD may be one person who could do this. The things they have been working on recently are in this area of aircraft etc...

in UI1.1 i've got many aircraft supersonic
just no boom
in a dive i got the f-8a panther sonic
- F22-Raptor-2006 - 27.06.2009
firstly the panther is F9F not F8 and also it has straight wings so it's not possible to go supersonic... you've read the game wrong.
Also currently all aircraft will blow up on the speed of sound in game. When the complete F86 and Mig 15 are released there will be a mod released together with them that lets them go supersonic without breaking up and blowing up as they currently do in the il2 game engine.

kaboom or not its still super sonic, all that happened to the f9 is the rudder broke and i still intercepted and destroyed 2 b-24s before they even heard me.

Ditto,
The engine wouldn't be able to support modern planes.

Modern Bombers could be made to work in IL2 as easily as WW2 planes (I guess). But getting missiles to work is going to be a bit harder. And many people are against missile fighters because that's not 'true' dogfighting. I wouldn't like to see the F-22 or F-15 but will go insane if someone creates the English Electric Lightning, B-52, F-104 Starfighter and so forth.

The Vulcan is
not a modern aircraft, nor is it supersonic. I know it looks pretty advanced and its shape might give the impression of supersonic capabilities, but it'd be no less 'impossible' than putting a WWII bomber ingame. It was subsonic, it lacked complicated avionics, and it had four engines.

The question is not whether it is possible to do a vulcan for IL2. The question is who wants to do it.

As I said, I'll ask around. I have a few friends from game art/development communities who have Il-2 and might have an interest, failing that I suppose I could always give it a shot at some point in the future.

And while you're asking around here are the other two British V-bombers to present to your friends.
Handley Page Victor
Vickers Valiant
P.S: B-52 would also be nice (Prototype looks much better than the standard 'BUFF')

all right for the avro...but some WWII aircrafts are missing like the helldiver or the judy.....
does anybody work on these planes????
