oooooops I whish I'd done it the right way!.... - shardana - 29.06.2009
well I did it, I mean I was trying to uninstall my il2 1946 but instead of doing it in the regular way I just deleted the main file from my c:
and now that i'm trying to install a fresh version from my original dvd i can't seem to be able to do it. what appens is that once I run the dvd it starts uninstalling the game but it's unable to complete it.
I just get a note saying that there's a problem with windows install error 1316 error occurring when attempting to read from the file C:\windows installer\il-2 sturmovik1946.msi
and then I get another pop up wich goes: error 1603 fatal error during installation.
please help me! all I want is to be able to install a fresh copy of il-2 modded to ui 1.1
what can I do?

In order to be able to install a fresh version of Il2 1946 you have to manually delete all previous IL2 folders (save separately those you are going to use again) from your C drive, using the windows explorer. This will allow for a "clean" installation, which subsequently you can "beef up" to the Mod version of yopur choice.

thanks I'll try to find all remaining files on C: and delete them.

Your best option is Windows Explorer - Control Panel - Add or remove programs and there you can uninstall Il-2.

Download the free program REVO.

If it were me I'd probably try restoring it from the recycle bin and uninstalling it the right way

It looks like revoinstaller should do the trick. I was going to suggest a registry cleaner like regcure which would remove the entries telling windows it was installed, then you could start from scratch.
