Any loss if textures are indexed instead of RGB? - viking4570 - 01.07.2009
My understanding is no - but wanted to confirm. I am trying to cut down the download size of my next map; I've already indexed the ed maps and that makes a big difference to game loading times as well. Thanks - viking.

... no loss says R-One, who knows what a map is ....
As far as I know you can't use indexed if there's an alpha channel used in the .tga file
This is what R-One did with your outstanding Crete map in 10 minutes flat :
En 10 minutes, j'ai fait passer le dossier :
- MAPMODS\Maps\vkg_Crete de 48,3 Mo

all you lose is SIZE of file....
Oleg employs indexed colour wherever he can in the sim
map_F can also be indexed

Thank you all - Wish I'd done that now with my Crete map - I'll post the Crete textures in the texture download section on their own as indexed tga if anybody wants them independent of the map, or to replace the bloated rgb textures that came with the map. My next map - el alamein, will be all indexed wherever possible. cheers - viking
