Sorry for my ignorance but which are the difference betwen the Bf 109E and Bf 109Ea?
Anyway good job!!
- Obelix - 18.07.2009
"a" is for "ausland" (export). Some devices weren't included, like Machine gun, canon MG FF, and some other things that Germany wouldn't like to be exported
Machine gun were remplaced by yugoslavian models (7,9mm) and canon bought in Switzerland by Oerlikon.
Normaly, armour plate wasn't installed for this model.

Difference between E-3 and E-3a would be some "export" equipment (radio), and that it is pure fighter like earlier German E-3's.
I think Swiss and RYUAF E-3a's are alike.

Thx for the info!!!

Obelix, YuRAF 109E-3a cannons were "genuine" Swiss Oerlikon FF instead MG FF in "domestic" E-3, am I right?
OTOH, YuRAF "Tech description&manual for Me-109" states that it has 2 "Rheinmetall-Borsig 7.9mm" engine cowling-mounted MG's (1000 rounds each) and that Oerlikon cannons can be replaced with also 2 "Rheinmetall-Borsig 7.9mm" with 500 rounds each.
Where those licence-built MG-17's?
Pozdrav,
Nele
