Clarification needed, some confusion re- unified installer - ZZ-Manic-ZZ - 16.07.2009

Firstly thank you to all the craftspeople involved in putting this mod for il2-1946 together and for this excellent website.
Secondly is there any package other than the universal installer 1.1 that I need to get the mod working. For instance I have read and am interested in the sound mod is it also necessary. This is the first attempt I have made at altering il*2 1946 other than the skins and campiangs I have created and/or downloaded in the past, so am a total newborne and it's a rather large learning curve, though well worth the effort to be involved.
Also I have this file update but am not sure if it is part of the above package (AAA_Community_Installer_v3.rar, 236 875KB in size) I can't remember where on this site I found it and aren't sure if it is corrupted as it isn't the usual 256 000KB, it does open ok in 7zip however.
Am I better off using the Maddox 409b1m patch or using the modified one from this site?
One second last ? is this file (AAA_Unified_v1_1_Patch_v1_0.exe, 49 366KB) a recent update or do I disregard it?

Finaly what other mods should I download which will enhance the above mod without making things too complicated or breaking the mod?
Lots of questions to answer as I have sort of confused myself with all the posts I have been reading on your excellent site. Big thank you if you have read this far and are willing to provide some clarity.

Let me see if i can show the way - basically, if you have your IL2 patched to ver 4.08, all you will need is the UI1.1 - it is pretty big, but well worth it. No need for any further game patches, 409b1m is included with UI1.1.
The only other thing you will need is the UI 1.1.1 patch. this addresses a few minor issues with UI1.1.

once you have that successfully installed, then you can start looking around the site, and trying out whatever mods you like, just remember to always backup before making changes, and READ the README's!!!!! 8)

Thank you BigBoss, that sorts my confussion out.

What about this file is it part of 1.1 or 1.1.1?
(AAA_Community_Installer_v3.rar, 236 875KB in size).

And what about this file?

(AAA_Unified_v1_1_Patch_v1_0.exe, 49 366KB).

Manic, ok - the 1st file you refer to(the bigger one) (AAA_Community_Installer_v3.rar, 236 875KB in size). --- this is part of UI 1.1 - part of the initial install.

(AAA_Unified_v1_1_Patch_v1_0.exe, 49 366KB). -- this the 1.1.1 patch, just a bit confusing with the naming - 1.1 ver 1.0, or 1.1.1, same thing... 8)

Thanks, is the first file corrupted though as it isn't 256000kb, and I haven't been able to re-download it as I can't find it on the mirror site?
I do have this file "AAA_Community_Installer_ver_1_1_part03.rar" but as you can see the name is slightly different and the size is 256000kb.

aaahh, i see where the confusion is coming in now....

AAA_Community_Installer_ver_1_1_part03.rar looks more like the correct file.
do you have a link to the V3 one you first mentioned? I'd like to go and have a look at exactly what that is..??
but, definitely, the one that says 'part03' is one of the correct UI 1.1 files.

I have just opened both "AAA_Community_Installer_ver_1_1_part03.rar" and "AAA_Community_Installer_v3.rar" with 7zip and compared files and file sizes.

The smaller one has a missing folder called ffb_thailand and the folder called dlv_sanai is missing a bunch of files which means it's corrupted, I can now delete it without fear of loosing anything important.

EDIT\ : I don't know where I got it from and I did a search for it a couple days ago with no luck, no matter anyhow as I feel certain it's corrupted.

I don't believe it, after installing the mod and loading the 409 with mods switch my game starts with a Russian language interface then immediately ctd's.

What have I done wrong, It works fine if I disable the mod?

Any idea's Bigboss?

hmmm.....are you SURE
your 1946 was patched to 4.08 before applying the UI1.1?
i'm just trying to eliminate possible issues here, so bear with me.... :wink:
