Best mod for .50 cals is, practice practice and practice and find the best convergence for you, .50 are note like 20 or 30mm cannons but are not weak, just to different tipes of round, cannons are based in raw power impact, .50 are based in a spray of rounds, in the best convergence that fit for you are very good

If what you are requesting is a Mod to change the default .50 cals, then it is not going to hapen. Not here. Ever.
The only way to get improved .50 cals is to create a brand new .50 cal MG to be included in a new slot airplane Mod. I know there have been discussions about improving the .50 cals and introducing accurate belting with different types of ammo on new airplanes. The search function might help you find these projects.
On a personal note : Stop trying to turn your Mustangs into X-Wings...

The 50cals in this game are fine. The ammo belt is what is messed up.
It should have more AP rounds. They also had HE rounds.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you you want to change the damage value of the 50. cals and that will never happen here because its against the rules.
However there is a mod that recently came out that adds your second request.

Set your convergence right and the .50 cals are one of the deadliest in the game especially with the P47, P51 or even in the P40.
And I thought I only shake my head at my kids.....yeeeesh :wink:

Rather than asking for more powerful gun modding - try aiming for engines, and cockpit. You can empty your whole ammo stash with no effect into wings and fuselage etc - gunners, pilots and engines aren't quite so durable. .50 (or non explosive rounds in general) are NOT weak, a short burst in the right spot and the right convergence for your distance from target will down almost anything, even in a G.50 or P.11.
Theres hundreds of posts on the net arguing one weapon, plane, aspect of IL2 is over or under modeled. 99% of the time it can be put down to not enough practice with that particular aircraft or armament.

I think its quite funny that everyone is arguing about the .50 cal BMG
