334 never flew, it's one of those classic drawing board projects that never went any further

actuly it did you have to read what a german pilot said about it
here is what he said
"This airplane is a serious handful in a spin and isn't much of a fighter. And the pusher prop makes takeoffs and landings real dicey because you can't flare much without striking the prop. It's also very sensitive to trim settings; you'll need to crank in a lot of rudder trim to get it to fly straight because of the short fuselage and small tail surface combined with that powerful engine. But it climbs well, is fast and slashes into a bomber formation pretty well. You have enough ammo for several passes, but avoid mixing it up with the Mustangs. They can outturn you easily. Use your plane's diving ability and high speed to break off the fight and head for home base."

Actually it didn't, that's just a pilots manual for a CFS addon plane - see here:

Rant... wait for it ....
ON
Alright, I understand that mayny of you bought this game in the package called 'Il-2 Sturmovik 1946' that has a nice Mig-9 on the cover, and pictures of the Lerche and other UFOs on the back. Perhaps you even bought it just because it said '1946' and you thought 'cool, super Uber German planes'. I'm not blaming you, my first experience of WW2 Flight Sims was LucasArt's Secret Weapons Of The Luftwaffe and I thought it was really cool back then. That said, The SOTW planeset was already included in Il-2 by the time PF came out... But I digress.
Many of us have been with this game since the original Il-2 back in 2001, and 1946 is an addon we just bought because it was part of the all-inclusive 1946 package and we would have hapilly never installed it had the option been given to us.
Il-2 Forgotten Battles is
not a sim centered around alternative history what-if designs, nevermind what name it is sold under in most stores nowadays. Il-2 Forgotten Battles is a sim centered around historical airplanes and battles covering more operations and aircraft types than any other before - which might lead you to believe anything is possible and belongs in the sim - but still centered around historical events, and this is what really matters and what most people at AAA are interested in.
1946 is just one add-on out of many (AEP, PF, Pe-2, Sturmoviks Over Manchuria...) , a fraction of the huge planeset, with only a couple of scripted campaigns. It's really a novelty, a joke, s surprise fun bonus made from what Oleg's team members had sitting at the bottom of their HD from the last company beer night at the office and that they needed to get out before they moved on to SOW.
I can't help but to be ticked off when I see how many people seem to think this What If aspect is what matters when the historical aspect of Il-2 still lacks essential maps and planes to be complete. How many RAF carreers do you think you could accurately represent at the present time, using the correct maps and planesets for Blue and Red ? Think about it just for fun... NONE.
So could you please cut the What If cr4p and stop polluting these boards with nonsense projects. Even if you do complete the model and import it in game, good luck finding someone to make the FM for you. And if you do, what are you going to do with these planes ? Be the Uber H4xx0r king of your favourite DF server ? Please...
Rant...
OFF
Cheers
Nico

Gentlemen, cool down... Although I shall be the last to create obstacles to someone's creativity, I have to agree with Porcorosso; I have been playing the game (ofline) since its first appearance, then moved on to Il2FB, aces pack and, reluctantly, I bought the Il2 1946 because of the obvious modding opportunities (AAA enters the scene). There are loads of historical, REAL LIFE planes which await incorporation into that exciting sim of ours; all extra energy and talent should move towards that direction; that is my (humble) opinion
Best,

I'm sorry, that wasn't at all moderate for a moderator.. dot dot dot...
Jokes aside, we all know that the majority of us here agree with Porco, but there are stil lots of us among that majority that actually like to have an imagination as well as getting something new to fly. Something that hasn't been represented in a simulator of this caliber, or any simulator for that matter.
I agree that there are lots of different projects that are essential for the full experience in a ww1/WW2/Korea flightsim, but if he has no interest in creating a plane from such a period, it's his prerogative. After all, it's his time, blood, sweat and tears he'll spend on a project that most probably will end up in the annals of IL-2 as another dead end street...
Don't get me wrong, I don't know the plane, but I'd love to try it, but to actually get something into game that's in a public release standard is a lot of hard work, even for the modders that have been around since the start.
[rant]
Good luck on your project, and don't forget to keep us posted in the WIP section when the time comes

Salute ALL hi ;-)
A modder will build what he/ she likes, its his / hers time and effort, if people use it
Then all the better, if people don

I know, I know, but can't a man vent once in a while ? What's in the 'Rant' brackets remains there and will not spill over to the outside. It's his right to build the plane or not in the end, and i's nobody else's business what project he decides to take on.
Cheers

If I were to find and take the time to learn 3d modeling and the other aspects of getting an aircraft in game I would then proceed to make what ever I felt like making.

Offcourse we can rant, just remember, we signed away our lives with the moderator rights
It was just a friendly poke at you buddy, don't worry about it.
Premise is wrong... - MB-BOB - 23.07.2009
I have studied every resource ever published on the Me163. The Me163 was built around the rocket technology that would power it (ie, both plane and rocket motor were developed concurrently).
As a result, there was in truth no Me163 airframe laying around waiting for a rocket motor. Therefore the entire premise for this prop-driven variant (that somehow came before) is completely without merit... and therefore quite fictional.
I don't have problems with "1946" designs that were on the drawing board but not implemented due to the end of the war. IMO, I do have a problem with completely fictional aircraft
