Maybe New PC, need your opinions - Fryslanboy - 27.07.2009

Maybe, i will upgrade my PC.. i'm now having an Intel E2180 Dual core, with Foxconn P43A motherbord, and a Nvidia 9600GSO.. the main things, other things are less important, exept the memory. I have XP Prof.

Now this
Intel Q9650 Quad Core: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819115130

Intel DP45SG: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813121348

GeForce GTX 260 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130497

Is this a good basic system?? i will see for the other parts..

Another question: Is it true that XP has a memory limit of 4GB??

EDIT: Is it true that Newegg only sends to America, caus i live in Holland, so they won't send me the stuff
Cheers!

All I can say is that you will have a very good system when you're finished! Wink

Yes, that is very much the case, and although Vista can handle more it doesn't have a good reputation, second only to Windows ME as Microsofts answer to the Titanic. I don't know about Windows 7.

Dualcore are much better than quadcore in IL-2, sugest a Intel E8600 or i7920

Videocard sugestion check for higth memory frequecy, sugest GF275

4GB with high frequecy your motherboard suport

Hoi!

Gr, Leopard

1st.... 260 has 896mb
2nd : go for a Q9550... it's 200$ less than the 9650. the only difference is the multiplicator. (wich is not a prob....)
3rd: I know that Asus P5Q Pro (or deluxe) overclocked very well and are a good choice as a P45 chipset
4th: its not XP, vista or win7 that limits 4gb or ram or more. its the 32 or 64bit version....
5th: you'll need a new power suplie
6th: good ram will make a little difference... but will make one

I7 920 is a quad core.....
+ he will need brand new memory...as it's DDR3

I don,t think dual or quad is better... since IL2 is only using one core... wich you can assaign in the config.ini
