Very strange graphics bug - mikey949 - 03.08.2009

Hi everyone,

I,ve played the whole Il-2 series since the very beginning but never have I ever experienced such a strange thing as I'm having now:
wherevere the bullets hit the ground or water a little firy ball remains at every impact spot and when I'm hit I can see all the bullets that have gone through me and my plane in the form of big long arrows????? So after 5 mins of dogfighting or receiving some hefty ack I'm a flying pincushion??? Very strange to say the least!! It's like I'm seeing the progammers language or somesort.
Does anyone have some hints or tips for me?

You have enabled the Arcade Mode. Its a feature, not a bug

Sounds like arcade mode got turned on somehow. Open up Conf.ini in your main Il-2 folder, and look for 'Arcade=' under [Game]. If it's set to 1 replace it with 0 and you should be okay. I can't remember if the bullet effects are part of arcade mode or not, but off the top of my head I'm pretty sure it isn't.

Thank you everyone!!!!!!!!!!!That was indeed the trick!! And I know where I went wrong. I enabled arcade mode in Il2Stab. A bit thoughtless clicking through the options.
1 Question remains: who in the world wants to play like that?
I mean it looks bizar;your plane speared with arrows... :? Or is it for evaluation purposes so you can see where excactly you were hit and where it came from etc?
Anyway:you guys made my flying life worthwile again! I was going insane and tried driver rollbacks and updates ..you name it.
