6200 or 9400gt - Abel6669 - 10.08.2009

im looking to buy a new card, but as i had a few problems recently, i am now on an even tighter budget, so the question i am asking is, is it worth changing my Geforce 6200 for a Geforce 9400GT, or not?? what would the difference be??? a lot or not much.

9400GT would be much better than your current card, but if your 6200 is the AGP version, then you are looking at having to upgrade your entire system. To be honest, I would wait a bit and save up towards getting a GTX260. Quite a few of second hand ones are for sale cheap on Ebay (Might be less now but seen some below US$150) or through computer trading forums, and they will just about play anything you through at them

That's what the card I am getting in my PC so I can play FSX. The GTX 260 will play almost anything with blazing fps.

That would be my suggestion,

Hey Abel, the 9400gt would be significantly better than the 6200. However I imagine that the graphics port on your motherboard will be agp - the old standard, and newer cards like the 9400gt are only available as PCi-e.

The first thing you should do is to identify which graphics port you have on your motherboard, if you install this: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php it will give you all the information you need (look at the mainboard tab, under the graphics interface)

If you are on a serious budget, I would aim for something like a 6800gt, for my old system I got mine from ebay - they look to be going from

The best Nvidia Card still available in AGP will be the 7200.
