Ships and shipflak invincibel against gunfire ??! - Docholiday - 26.08.2009
It would be nice if we could silence the shipflak with the aircraftguns during a bomb/torpedorun !
Ships (small ships too !) seems to be "immun" against the gunfire of the atttacking aircraft (The big gun of the B-25H is not an exception) !
Would it be possibel to change these two things ????

We had this with another game Fighter Squadron Screamin Demons Over Europe (SDOE).
The clever Mod men had to tame down the guns on the ships because they where invincible
- Guest - 26.08.2009
...one of the first mods to appear for IL2 did exactly this.
Look for the Destruction/Destroy Mod, something like that. It was done by fabianfred.
- fabianfred - 26.08.2009
Nah.... forget the old destroy mod.......well out of touch with all the later mods it is
try this..... open your ships.ini and right at the top is a section..
/----------------------------------------------------------------------
// User-defined sections with strength parameters
// Gun Durability
[strength_GunTiny]

change you data to this.... AFTER first making a copy of your ships.ini.... in the same folder is OK
this will alow the small manned AA guns to be destroyed by cannon staffe/bombs/torps/rockets

This isn't increasing the effectiveness of weapons... but decreasing the stength of certain things against attack....
We are not allowed to mod weapons here...and I wouldn't know how anyway.
What i have said doesn't affect the hull strength so it doesn't make it easier to sink ships.

Where is the Ships.ini located exactly? I can't find it
Ships.ini ?? - Docholiday - 27.08.2009
Thank You guys for Your help !
But I can`t find the "ships.ini" in my installation ! Can I change the settings in this ".ini" for reducing the invulnerability of small ships agains gunfire too ??
- fabianfred - 27.08.2009
if you look at the bottom of the ships.ini there is data for the PAM motor torpedo boat
and you will see that it uses the Hull Tiny strength
under the Gun durability section you will find this.....
// Hull Durability
[strength_HullBang]
MinShotCaliber 0.00762
NumShots 2
MinHitExplTNT 4
NumHitExpl 4
MinNearExplTNT 1
NumNearExpl 10
[strength_HullTiny]
MinShotCaliber 0.00762
NumShots 80
MinHitExplTNT 4
NumHitExpl 4
MinNearExplTNT 8
NumNearExpl 14
[strength_HullSmall]
MinShotCaliber 0.02
NumShots 84
MinHitExplTNT 6
NumHitExpl 10
MinNearExplTNT 24
NumNearExpl 17.5
try altering the data....not forgetting that these changes will only change your own machine...so on-line it will not work for others unless they make similar changes
Where the hell is the ships ini ? - Docholiday - 27.08.2009
Thank You fabianfred but I can`t find the ships.ini. Where is this ini-file in the game root ?
- BF109boy - 27.08.2009
they arn't invinceble. i would know. i once sank a russian cruiser/destroyer in FB. all i had was a Bf109K-4 with two MG151 cannon pods attached. after several passes, it stopped fireing and sank. no bombs!!!

perhaps the ships.ini is only in your mods folder if you have installed the shippack2.....unless the UI put it in the mods/STD/com/maddox/il2/objects folder
