Using the JGSME mod enabler? - andym - 28.08.2009

Ok,i am confused at the whys and wherefores of how to install mods, skins etc using the methods described on the forum.Sadly having followed the instructions to the letter after 2 reinstalls im going to give up and try a different approach.Having seen a few posts mentioning the JGSME mod enabler(which i use with many games)i wonder if this can be used to install mods and skins etc.Its a great bit of kit and is so simple to use.I am going to try to figure it out on my own but as im a bit of a biff with puters it might take some time.So if there is anyone out there that have tried or want to give it a go or assist me do reply via PM or on the thread.

(Personally speaking i find the methods on the forum confusing at the best of times. Please dont get me wrong,i appreciate the time and work that the sites modders do,but it would be so much simpler to use the JGSME software.Of course there may be issues that i dont know about that makes the JGSME not compatable with Il2 1946,if so then thats the end.It does say though in the Jones soft site that if a game can be modded then the JGSME can be used)

Ok ill gove it a go,however if i need to reinstall i feel its only fair to warn you,i shall track you down and beat you to death with a copy of "Biggles and Ginger Go Mad in Marseilles"!

use the unified installer - RNBeavis - 28.08.2009

and follow the instructions, it's soooo easy - especially compared to the pre-UI days. Basically, once you install the game patch it then run the UI.

You'll probably want to track down the English campaign and ranks mods afterward as some stuff will have turned Russian. Start off with the simple mods that you drag n drop nto the Mods folder to use and when you've got that down go for the extra aircraft, which is a mite tricker. Still, I have had no crashes at x% and do wonder how others manage it so easily!

Have fun!

I did use the UI however i didnt like the way the planes shook as you turned etc, also i didnt like the engine or gun sounds.

Randomacess,do you HAVE to install the sound mod,or can you just install the mod enabler, wrapper and ac installer without it?

This, I'm certain, has nothing to do with the UI.

If you want to have MODS, without the new sounds, then install the Mod_Activator_5.2 following the instructions in that thread.

No you dont HAVE to install eng-sound-mod.Ok basicly ENG-SOUND-MOd is exactly the same as the Mod activator except that it adds new ingame sounds, so you have to choose... Mods and new sounds or just mods. Once you have chosen which one you want to use You have to then install wrapper.dll before you use any mods, after that your all good to go. Only install the a/c installer if you are going to use mod aircraft.
Other than that your totally correct. Hope this helped.

P.s. Sorry for the late reply, was taking a nap.
