what do i need in order to start creating my on aircraft models? ie, what programs, and can some one point me to some good vidieo turtroreals?

i think that this would be a good first project.

For 3d you can use the free gmax what does almost everything that 3dsmax does.

Here is an excellent video on creating a texture sheet for your object, in this case it's only a simple house but I expect it's the same for an aircraft.
