Confederate Air Force (CAF) Addition - Guest - 31.08.2009

Now that I have collected all the info and photos that I wanted and needed, I would like to repeat my plea. I am hoping that the genius who created the Forgotten Countries Mod could add the Confederate Air Force, CAF, of the Confederate States of America. Now, for all of you skeptics there actually was a Confederate Air Force that flew WWII aircraft to perserve them. It was recently re-name the Commemorative Air Force. I hope that the CAF could be added to the Allied side in the sim and be allowed to fly all USAAF/USAF aircraft with the following markings.

The Confederate Air Force actually had a special roundel that replaced the standard USAAF roundel on the port side only. This was called the "flag-and bar" and was practiced until the CAF changed its name. Please ignore the black part, I'll try to edit that out later...

All other roundels were kept the same, basic USAAF roundel.

This is the "Confederate Flag" which was actually flown by more rebelious American soldiers in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

For fun, here's the blood chit and wings used by CAF aviators...

If you have any questions about my reasoning or request, please feel free to ask...

Allow me to back my self up on why the CSA would be on the side of the Allies. Let's start back with the Civil War. The CSA did not defeat the USA in the traditional sense. They couldn't have because they didn't have the resources since they were so backwards and Britian and France wouldn't back them up due to the slavery issue. So, instead of trying to beat the Union army in Northern states to prove the strength of the CSA, the Confederacy went to fighting a gorilla war. It was a case of survival, just like in Vietnam. That's all they really wanted anyways, to survive, not take over the USA, just survive. The CSA went underground and simply outlasted the Union. Now, the USA is allowing the CSA to exist in order to end the incredible blood-shed from the war. The CSA needs manufactured goods that it normally recieved from the Northern states before the war, but relations are still tense between the USA and CSA, so the Confederacy turns to Britain and France. Britain and France refuse to trade because of slavery again. The Confederacy must make ammends in order to survive and grants more rights to slaves. As a side note from progression to WWII, but still of surmounting importance, the CSA eventually banned slavery and moved to equal rights as the natural course of things from granting a few more rights right after the war. It is the nature of countries to progress to equality as was the case in Britain, France and more recently, the real US. Now, between the end of the Civil War ended and when WWII was beginning, the CSA and USA have become very fierce allies mostly due to the Great War. You see, during the Great War, the USA ran low on products that the still largely agricultural CSA could provide. The CSA began providing cotton and other crops to the USA and eventually joined the war due to the pleas of their new ally and their old friends Britain and France. The US gave the CS all manner of machines, weapons, and other factory produced goods that they needed. After the war, the alliance of North and South remained intact. When the 1930's came and the USA started getting ready for war, the old trade of crops to the US and machines to the CS began. Through their old alliance, when the Empire of Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, the Confederacy responded as well and joined the fight. If you have any more questions on why the CSA would have been on the side of the Allies or anything else, just ask. Please, give us the CAF with the Allies...

@MustangNF.

If you imagine that the CSA would have become an independent state. It is most likely to have become a close ally with the USA.
They share the same historic background which is also why there never have been a second civil war. It is basically the same people both in the South and North.

Also if you look at the 1775

I've looked for military awards and decorations of the Confederacy, and this is what I've found.

From the United Daughters of the Confederacy...

Cross of Military Service

This is the replacement for the Southern Cross of Honor, the equivalent of the Medal of Honor in the Confederacy. It has been awarded to lineal descendants of Confederate military personnel who served in the conflicts listed by each medal.

WWI

WWII

Korea

Vietnam

National Defense Medal

Presented to lineal descendants of Confederate military personnel and who served a minumum of 90 days in the Korean War or the Vietnam Conflict but not in the Persian Gulf War.

Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal

Presented to veterans who are lineal descendants of Confederate military personnel and who served a minumum of 90 days in the U.S. Armed Forces with service of at least 30 days in U.S. Military Operations, U.S. Military Operations in Direct Support of United Nations, or U.S. Operations of Assistance for Friendly Foreign Nations after July 1, 1958.

Pioneer in Space Award

Presented to men and women who are lineal descendants of Confederate military personnel and who have flown in space.

Meritous Service Award

Presented to veterans who are collateral descendants of Confederate military personnel and who have given military service to our country in certain timeframes.

There's also the Military Order of the Stars and Bars, but they don't offer any military awards...

Personally, I think the Meritous Service Award and the Cross of Military Service from WWII should be used as the awards for the CAF. It would also be nice to have the Korea and WWI medals added for those eras too. Is anyone else interested in making this a nation for the sim? This doesn't seem to have alot of support.

Soon I will upload a CAF F-84 skin pack to M4T.
Only missing some minor adjustments.

As far as nation goes, maybe if I get time to look into it. I can add it.
It's a huge maybe, as I don't know howto.

Awesome... Perhaps you could also try adding the historical roundel scheme. The F-84 looks great, though...
