[Tool] Universal static.ini checker V.1.3 - GUI version - zipzapp - 12.09.2009
Although there was little response to post nr. 9, here is version 1.3 of the static tool.
Feature summery:
- Finds missing objects in your static.ini for all mod maps
- Finds doubled objects and irregular entrys in your static.ini
- Finds wrong, doubled and empty sim (mesh) references
- Numbers and denumbers static.ini objects (numbering doesn't harm the game)
- Writes all findings to a txt file on your desktop and opens them
- Creates and opens a numbered object list both for fmb and fmb+
- Opens the static.ini
- Pathes to your static.in/mod maps are saved
- Optionaly opens a list windows showing what it's doing ;-)

Notes to V. 1.2_
This is the GUI version of the static.ini checker for all mod maps. If you can't save a mission, the reason will be you don't have installed all objects needed for that map.
This tool shows the missed objects, so you can install them. To find the mod containing these objects, search the missing objects in the "full_static.ini" and scroll up until you find the "Title" line. This usually gives the name of the mod. Future objects mods are not included, of course.
I decided not to write changes to the static.ini, because such changes allways are a little bit critical. Instead notepad (expected to be in your windows mainfolder) pops up and shows the questionable entrys.
The prog also finds doubled or irregular entrys. When opening the static.ini and copying the entrys in question to the editors search field it should be easy to find them.
Usage:
Unzip to a folder of your choice
Run the prog
Click on "Search" and one of the subtitles
Select the "actors.static" type file of the map(1) or your your static.ini(2) to examine
Press "OK"
(1) folder "..\mods\mapmods\maps\"
(2) folder "..\mods\STD\com\maddox\IL2\objects\"
Changes from former version:
GUI added
Looks much nicer
Easy to use
Much faster
act.jar no more needed
Much lesser memory usage
Writes found issues to a desktop txt file and opens it.
So i'm keen enough to say: This may be the worlds leading and most adcanced IL2 1946 mod static.ini checker ;-)

Some pics please!
so we know what we are downloading!

Great work, thank you!
It will become a necessary tool, and we'll wonder how could we previously live without it...

Hi,
Unzipped and opened and when I get to the list of drives under search it will not enter any of them when I try to burrow down to the file.
Suggestions?
Thanks for this great tool.
Looking forward to cleaning up my files.
SG
Just found the prob.
It will work if you hit the enter key but will not recognize mouse clicks.
- zipzapp - 12.09.2009
Oh. It needs a double click. Did'nt thougt about that. After 19 years with windows i just noticed at this moment and now the explorer just needs one. Astonishing ;-). I will change this.
Edit: That's funny. These explorer list items within programs always seem to need 2*Click (or a middle mouse), wereas the windows explorer needs only one. Never noticed that. Strange. Seems to be unchangeable.

Thank you very much! A good tool!
I have a sugestion: Is possible do a tool like that for check were is the bug in stop start game in 60%, 70%...
We all have that problems sometimes...
- zipzapp - 12.09.2009
Would be very usefull. But far beyond my skills. I'm just a simple basic guy :oops: from the countryside ..... No idea about java and this stuff.

Perhaps a useful addition to your universal tool would be if it could add an item number to each seperate item in the static.ini...... this would make it easy to find the duplicates or those items which need editing.... also make it easier to find them in relation to the number of the Object in the FMB...
it would have to be like this.....
//===========================================================================

Title House
//===========================================================================
[buildings.House$CrimeaBarnStucco]
// 1

MeshLive 3do/Buildings/Crimea/BarnStucco/live.sim

Good idea. May be i will also add some other featurs like:
- Listing the maps buildings (Not very usefull but somehow interesting)
- a numerated object list for missionbuilders
- some statistical stuff
- or something else
Any ideas?

Great utility, especially with some of the more complex Maps now appearing.
Many Thanks.

Thanks for this great utility...and adding the static ini numbers...
I have noticed a discrepancy when i number the static.ini...and create an Objects list for FMB+
The following two entires in the static.ini cause the numbers to not match up....
[buildings.Furniture$Kust]
Title Kust
Mesh 3do/Tree/Kust.sim
//===========================================================================
[***]
Title Mountain
//===========================================================================
(461)
[buildings.Mountain$Suribachi]
Title Suribachi
Mesh 3do/Buildings/Mountain/Suribachi/live.sim
probably the objects list does not detect the buildings.mountain and buildings.furniture

Superb work zipzapp!
I'd missed copying three entries which stopped me saving missions in the channel map. Your program picked up the error in seconds. This tool is a must have!
- zipzapp - 03.11.2009
The kust and the mountain i sorted out, because they are not shown up and don't count in the mission fmb or the fmb+ but only in the maps building fmb. Thats the way with my installation, isn't that regular?

Yes..they do not show in the FMB.....but are in the static.ini...... so when you add numbers to the static.ini your program will number them...so the sequence of numbers relating to the list in the FMB will be thrown out of alignment....
