Canvas Knight and UI 1.2 - Scharnhorst1943 - 15.09.2009
So ......... Canvas knights is slated for release soon.
..............UI 1.2 is slated to be released soon .........
Are they going to be released around same time? Together? Or have I missed vital information that would put them not being released close together?

Yes.

Any more specific reasons for the delays?
And.....patience you will get - Guest - 16.09.2009
as modder's modding has to be your main interest or how could the members put in so much of their time and still keep going......wow......over a 1000 hr's. i
I'm sure i speak for all in saying we are appreciative and grateful for the teams efforts to bring this most anticipated add-on to life...
i well remember the days of O.F.F. and the buildup for its release......This will truly be a ww-1 onliner's dream come true.

They aren't delays, as we never set a specific date for release. We also never once said this would be in the UI. We've said all along that it will be compatible, but stand alone from the UI. This mod probably be several times bigger than the UI, if I had to take a guess. We do not want to weigh the UI down, as it is already big.
So, if you want more specific answers, I can't go into dramtic details, but I can say this. This is a free mod that has so far taken over at least 1000 hours for each one of modders involved, in some cases, more. We have not, and will not, ever be paid for that time. Saying that, we have lost some team members along the way, but we also have picked new ones up. We've been able to adapt to things that have happened, and are continuing to move forward.
I've also commented, so has DM, that there is something very nice in the works that hopefully will please and surprise everyone soon. All we ask for is patience.

Friction
I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I am not blaming you in any way what so ever. I know that you have been working your asses off since the beggining of the year without pay. I just wanted to ask whether the incorrect "late summer" release date was just wrong, or due to some problem among team members (Mr. Jolly leaving, the closing of the Raf 662 posts and so on). I have been on this site frequently since February. I am glad to hear that you have "patched your wounds" and progress is being made. I am also looking foward to DM's little surprise.
Sorry for the inconvenience,

I will answer your questions though, because I appreciate you clarifying yourself. The late summer release was originally made (only as a ballpark guess) by someone who isn't on the team anymore. Although the team has strived for that time frame, it became apparent that it would take longer, just by the nature of the work. Problems on the site and team members leaving and new coming in probably held us up a little bit too.
These planes to consume alot of time to get into the game, as almost everything, from model to data work to cockpit is all custom scratch built work. To give you an idea, I read in an interview that it took Oleg's teams (on average) about a month to do an aircraft, with his programs (the proper programs). It takes us a little longer, pending no rough patches or errors in the work. In comparison, I do not think we have done too bad.
I hope this answers your questions.

Friction
that really doesn't seem too bad of time then, considering all the aircraft and map and ground objects etc.

Thank you Friction. Let's see, CK (OOF) started around February, one month to build an aircraft... Christmas?
Sorry for the trouble
