ok im semi-new here so pardon me if i'm slow
i have the dvd version of il-2 1946 patched up to 4.08. what do i need next to make the mods work?
located this list from a post i found
1.IL2_MOD_Activator_v4_IL2_4_08.exe
2.il-2_sturmovik_wrapper_patch.exe
3.changed the files folder name to Mods, and added my mods
4.Ran the game and check out the performance.
5.Than added IL2_409_MOD_b1m.exe.
can't find the wrapper patch thingy and language fix here or on the internet.
is that the right way?
thanks!

The best way is to get the AAA Unified installer
(The link is inoperative)
Read the instructions carefully!

An explanation of the unified installer 1.1 is found at

Hi Jerm, nice name you got there
Like the other replies says, the Unified installer 1.1 is you best bet.

Take the time to read the instructions, or better still copy and paste into a document then print it out. Follow the instructions although there is one comment that will make no sense to you, Line 2 reads as follows.
2. If you have IL-2 installed, Copy your current IL-2 1946 game folder and rename the new folder. Next, Delete the FILES and MODS folders.
I think it should read,
If you have IL-2 installed, Copy your current IL-2 1946 game folder and rename the new folder. Next, if you have a previously modded IL2 installed Delete the FILES and MODS folders.
If yours is a fresh install and you have not done any mods, than you will not have these two folders, so don't wreck your brain looking for them
Get the 1.1.1 update patch too, apply that and then you are almost ready to run.

You need to know about folders with the - (dash) in front of them. This effectively prevents that folder from running, so some items are already thus marked and you need to decide which you want to run.
Be patient use the
"Search" function up the top of this page if you have issues, there is usually an answer out there
hock: and if you cannot find an answer ask the questions in the "IL2 Technical Support", or "Spray and Pray" topics.
I have only been in here for a bit over a week and found all the above to be the best way. Help is always there but so many people ask the same question over and over, I even tired of reading them. If only they did the same, it would make life easy for the really knowledgeable ones in here.

In previous posts it has been stated that UI 1.2 will be issued with a patch option to install over UI 1.1. So no need to wait for it to be released.

As asheshouse said, it is in addition too 1.1 from "Monguse"
The Unified 1.2 is not a patch it is an add on
The base line requirement for the 1.2 will be 4.08 and clean install of 1.1
Then you may then apply the 1.2 add on. On a similar note, you need not patch 1.1 with 1.1.1 as 1.2 includes 1.1.1
Also, 1.2 Status:
We have a few more things to test but all is looking very very good.

This is the link to the language fix I used. It works just fine for me. It is the first one listed.

Not sure what mods you are referring too, but if you install the UI1.1, I am pretty sure you not need to do items 1 to 5 of that list. As I said, I came in the same as you, clean install from DVD, patch to 4.08, then UI 1.1, patched to 1.1.1 I then added the Tigermoth and some cockpit mods. Later I downloaded the F9F Panther and MIG 15. To install the Panther which was the first plane mod not using existing FM, I was told to get the Newest Button file 3.8, that is the only other thing I have added since the UI, well apart from the actual aircraft and mods.
Item 2 in this link will get you the AC Installer 3.8, which is the newest at moment.

Try a search on author and put my name in it, seems like I may have asked the questions already and you can find some answers there.
Good luck and have fun 8)
