Screen resolution question - hammond67 - 11.10.2009

Hi everyone

I have a AOC 2216Vw 22" monitor. I run it on a desktop resolution of 1440x900.

My problem is setting the correct resolution for IL-2. Setting it at 1280x960 makes the screen stretch horizontally. So I went to the conf.ini and set the resolution to my desktop resolution (1440x900). The screen isn't stretched any more but there are black bars down the side of the screen (about one and a half inches thick) making the 22" monitor look stupid.

Is there any way to fix this problem?

PS. today I found out the recommended desktop resolution and changed it to 1680x1050

Make sure your config file is changed also:

[window]
width=1680
height=1050
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

One other thing you might be interested in is how to get proper widescreen in IL2. IL2 doesnt give proper widscreen nor does simply changing the conf.ini file, it just chops the top and bottom of the screen off, rather than making it wider, so having a widescreen monitor is a disadvantage!....unil now..

I have posted elsewhere on how to this, linky below

As you have a 16:10 monitor, a FOV of 101 degrees is correct....you will see what i mean!

Also, the reason you got those black bars when you adjusted your conf.ini file is because you didnt set SaveAspect=0. Thats what gets rid of the side bars. Anyhoo, enjoy!
