ShipPack2 Help asked - achilles - 11.10.2009

Help! For more than two months I tried everything to make the ShipPack2 Mod work. Everytime the game crashes at 70%. I read several things about the problem and I tried many things but...invain! Nothing works and I would like to have the ships to use them in FMB. Can anyone give me a proper step by step sollution to make the install work.
I did not have the ShipPack1 and I use version 4.09b1m.

thanks

I assume, You have been going through this thread http://allaircraftsimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7579&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=shippack2&start=165 and noticed the post from asheshouse?

I read through it an installed ShipPack2 yesterday. It took me some time to do all the necessary changes but I got it to work with the provided installation infos.

I went through all that. I read somewhere else about the technics_ru. I tell you what I have done. Something along the way is not good so the game keeps crashing at 70%.
First: unzipped ShipsPack2 into MODS. First question. What must stay in this folder and what has to go? The Read Me folder and Add to ini are totally useless I think after the ini files are altered? Than you have the MODs folder with STD folder and ShipPack folder in it. Does it have to stay that way? Do the files in the STD have to stay there? These ones must be copied into the STD in the Game/Mods folder. That is what te "Read me" says? I do not have ShipPack1 so the only files in Game/MODS/STD are air and static. Strange I have to put the others - technics, ships etc into this folder and they need to be changed afterwards with the contents of the "add to ini" files.
"Put the contents of the add to ini files at the end of the coresponding files" it says but there everything can go wrong again. What has to stay and how to paste it in the files. Do not misunderstand, I do know how to put things in files, but may be some lines must be deleted, or may be the added lines must be placed before or after some of the existing lines.
After trying everything and I do mean EVERYTHING, there must be a reason it still does not work.
Why are the chief - stationary - ships and technics files, which have to be placed into Games/MODS/STD not "complete and ready for use"? I would like to see the ShipPack2 work but I lack the knowledge to make it work because I do not see some, may be important, details.

Wait a minute! It sounds like the ShipPack2 and the STD folders are the only ones in Your MODS folder after You unzipped the ShipPack2. Is that true?
If so, You first have to enable mods in Your game with a mod activator.
If not, what mod activator are You using? I installed the unified installer v.1.11 from AAA. It comes along with all the files that You are supposed to edit for using the ShipPack2. And lots of other stuff for sure Big Grin

Anyways, If You allready have the files mentioned in the folder 'AddtoIni" than all You do is adding the content of the txt-files to the corresponding ini-file. If You do not have one or more of the mentioned files in Your game directory than simply use those in the STD folder. You do not have to change these because they allready contain the necessary changes.

.ini file properties in Ship Pack 2 - lordish - 29.10.2009

OK I have installed all the ini files provided with ShipPack 2 to their respective directories. The problem is that all those files attributes are still shown as text documents and NOT properties files or Configuration Settings as the Air.ini file is. I'm sure these files will not run as they are. HELP! How do I convert them??
