Cannons Map - Rodders - 13.10.2009

Hi All,
Please don't be angry with me but i've downloaded Canon's channel map and had a look at the files. To Say it looks a daunting job to install is an under statement. :?
Could anyone give me an idea how to install it, preferably using big easy to understand words.
Forgive me if it's easy to do, but i have an awful lot of stuff loaded with 1946. Besides the unified installer i've got Ostfront, tld, Fall Blau, BOE, Wings over the Citadel, and a humongeus amount of campaigns. And i don't want to have to reinstall it all. Besides it took me nearly 6 months to get the UI right on my pc.
So sorry if i'm being cautious, but can anyone help.
Thanks.

If you read the first page beneath the pictures here: viewtopic.php?t=19663
you'll find step by step instructions, and some of the problems encountered by others have been addressed on the last page although you may or may not have them it kinda depends on your system.

I can't give you any tip of how to install the Channel map 'cause I haven't installed for various reasons but with UI 1.11 it shouldn't be a problem (according the comment by fly_zo on page 39.)
If you are afraid of messing up your install why don't you make a copy of your modded IL2Sturmovik1946 folder somewhere else on your harddisk and try to install Canonuk's Channel map on that one. If things go wrong well bad luck but at least you have your other install with all of your mods and campaigns.
It can't be said enough: back up, back up, back up. And an external back up is even better.

No it isn't. Follow Canon's instructions in the readme and it works - first time. The only dodgy bit is installing the ToW Objects, as it doesan't seem natural.

BUT - follow Canon's instructions to the letter - and it works.

I was hoping it would be part of UI 1.2 but it looks like im going to have to bite the bullet and do it

yes that is unfortunate .... but it was decided that way cos of game engine limitations ( forcing for using text. compression ) so even if it was included most users would still have to "fix"/tweak some issues manually .

I honestly believe manual install is better option here ...

I successfuly installed Canon's map back in late August...after some difficulties, and some effort...got it all set up including the various *.ini changes, etc. Enjoying it. Then added the add-on autumn maps, etc etc.

I believe the crucial aspect/step in getting Canon's map to work for me involved the static.ini file. At a point, when nothing was working, I had to copy over the 'original' static.ini from my backup of the "clean" UI 1.1 install, then very carefully make the required additions to that "Canon-moded' static.ini. Everything then worked.

Now, I don't know what to do with UI 1.2. It does not include Canon's map, and says to install 1.2 ONLY over a "Clean" UI 1.1 I don't want to go through a repeat fo all the Canon installation work, which I will likely screw up.

What is my best course of action?

Saving Missions - Warbird_242 - 15.10.2009

Hi all

I read all 32 pages of Canon's thread and still can't find any answers, so I'll ask here.

I downloaded the map, but I can't save or play missions. I create the mission, press file, save as, then play, and nothing happens. I have tried this a hundred times, and also I can't find the suggested lines to fix ( double bs in static.ini)

please help Smile

THanks

Warbird

you have conflict between required object files and their entries in static.ini file .

please reinstall all required mods and check entries for all objects ( Cannon's and those coming from required mods )

proper installation of AAA UI 1.11 or UI 1.2 is mandatory for safe start !

When this happens it indicates you are missing some objects or forgot to add the static.ini for it in Mods\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects\
Happened to me with another map.

- Warbird_242 - 15.10.2009

Is that including the actual map?

Also just noticed something - I looked in the mission folder, and it saves the properties file but not the mission.

Is this normal?

- Warbird_242 - 15.10.2009

Still no luck. Re downloaded mods and triple checked the STATIC.INI files, and no result. I have noticed, as i said above that the mission file is not saved, but the properties is Sad

Please help

Warbird,
Grab Zipzapp's tool from this (The link is inoperative) and run it, it will tell you which objects are missing... as far as the bb in the static.ini is concerned, open it in wordpad and press CTRL+F and type bb in the find what field and then click find....this should take you to the instance of bb so you can fix it.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Quelty

Quote:2 totally wrong instructions for installation of BranToc_objets_ToW mod

file structure for his objects should be :

...\MODS\objects_TOW (or whatever you like)\3do\Buildings\ToW\
