Is the UI1.2 being broken up? - fritzofpeace - 18.10.2009

There are many of us out here who cannot afford the time and/or disk space which the unified's require. Is anyone working on breaking out the new aircraft of UI1.2 into individual download packages? I'm one of many who would love to get the early P-38 models.
Or, is this possible simply by downloading the UI into a non game folder, pulling out the aircraft folders and updating the ini's and ru's?

From what I understand the new UI 1.2 has the new aircraft using other folders for alias's
They all feed of certain other folders for info needed for load out's ete, thus you need more than just the planes now.

In this way these aircraft should be less in size now and in the future because by feeding off of certain folders,
they all use those folders for info thus reducing the over all size of the UI and in any future aircraft to be made.

Similar to the way Microsick flight sims use to alias panels and sounds around to all the aircraft so as each aircraft doesn't need all the files in each of there own folders .
This is the way I understand the UI 1.2 to be packaged,I may be wrong though of course anyone correct me if I am wrong.

Easy

Yes it can be broken up but you have to know how to do a manual install.

The point of the UI is to make everyone compatible. No you aren't going to see separate installs out of all the mods so you can pick and choose the game was never designed to work that way, if you don't have the Drive space you can buy HD's very cheap and have all the drive space you need so that isn't really a good reason. I have three installs of the sim for various reasons and I have other games which have their own mods and none of them are set up that way either and they are more mainstream than IL-2. My 1.2 install is well over 24 Gigs now and that includes Missions and Skins so I feel for you but you can't expect every plane and mod to be a custom install separate from all the rest, sorry.

At the moment, the only part of UI1.2 which is going to be released separately is my contribution of the 109 pack (G-2 trop to K-6). This is because it was originally a separate mod and I wish to share it the SAS and Ultrapack community. At the end of the day it is purely up to the authors of the mods and what they want to do with them
