Anyone have a dogfight server up for the Mig15bisF-86 Sabre? - JG14_Jagr - 19.10.2009

The title says it all.. the mods are great to fly.. I was hoping there would be a Hyperlobby server up by now Smile

Is it me or does the Mig15 own the F86, it just seems better in ever way in game.....

- skyomish - 19.10.2009

I see a few on H\ L that have these. Most are COOP's

I agree Spectre, I'm no expert but the relative performance seems to go against everything I've read about the two aircraft.

The Mig15 in game is the "bis" version which was the later version of the Mig15. The F86A5 is the earliest version of the F86. The disparity could not be any larger than these 2 aircraft. I've done some simple testing on the FM's and they are at very least reasonable approximations.

The planes had vastly different performance envelopes. The Mig had a major climb rate advantage. 30% better at least (using the 2 models here) The Mig also had much higher ceiling and better initial acceleration. The same weight that lowered the Sabre ceiling and climb rate gave it a huge advantage in the dive performance. " Turning" was more or less a wash as it was close enough depending on altitude. At extreme heights the Mig held a sleight edge, at medium altitude the Sabre held an edge.

The Sabre evolved quickly with the E model closing the gap in performance quite a bit (ceiling and climb rate) The F model brought the 2 planes to near parity across the board.

If you are flying against AI don't make any judgements on FM's. Remember that the Sabres adapted to combat with Migs by entering the combat area at high speed (.85 mach or so) expecting to get bounced from above.

When the F-86F-30 is released, the relative performance gap will be more or less gone.

See thats what I thought, Ill be waiting for the F model and Freddy's new pit. Thanks for the Info.

The F86 in Korea did have a radar ranging gunsight that whe working properly and used properly gave the pilots a great gunnery advantage.

F86's did NOT carry any AA missiles in Korea. The first use of an early sidewinder was by Taiwanese Sabre's against Chinese migs during a confrontation over ownership of several small islands. Sabres were used for a LONG time after Korea by many nations. Bolivia retired their last Sabres in 1994.
